Description: Robinah Nantongo is the leader of the Dembe women?s group that has been in existence for 5 years. She is a married woman with two kids and manages two businesses. She is a farmer growing mostly bananas, cassava and sweet potatoes, as well as making local alcohol to sell to bars around her home and in town centers. With the local brew, she makes waragi and tonto. In a week, Robinah can make and sell eight jerry cans of tonto and seven of waragi for wholesale, as well as selling to her customers that drink from her homestead. Robinah needs a loan to buy more bananas and pay employees for working in her farming business.
About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.
