Description: Esta has owned a small charcoal store and has been a maize seller in the Ipagala neighborhood of Dodoma for 14 years. She currently earns an average monthly profit of US$ 175. Every day she works at her business. She is requesting her first loan from BRAC Tanzania so that she can buy more charcoal and maize for her business. She is hopping that through this loan, her profit will increase and she will be able to grow her business and to save money. Esta is 40 years old, married, and has four children: aged between 22 and 16. She also cares for two additional dependents. She will be sharing this loan with her fellow group members Joyce, Janeth and Chipegwa. Each woman has her own small business in Dodoma.


About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.
