Description: Sarah Namatende is one of the executive members of the Twesige loan group in Kayunga. Sarah is well known in her community because of her work. She operates a drug store that she has owned for ten years. People refer to her as ?musawo,? which means doctor. In places far away from the town council, it?s hard to find a hospital therefore Sarah offers much needed medicine. Her store is a blessing to the people since it reduces the transport cost and time necessary to seek health services from a big hospital. Sarah is able to treat illnesses like malaria, colds, coughs, minor injuries and accidents and at times provides delivery services to women in her area. She is requesting a loan to stock her shop with more medications and medical supplies.
About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.
