Description: Patricia Mnawe is 48 years old. She is married and has given birth to five children: four sons and one daughter. The two eldest have completed junior high school and are learning trades. The rest are in senior high and basic schools. Her husband is a trader/cocoa farmer. Patricia lives with her husband and children in a rented apartment in a small farming community called Nkwateng in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The major occupation of the residents, the men in particular, is farming. She trades in palm oil. She procures the palm oil from the producers in her community and distributes it to customers who resell it and to food vendors. Apart from the oil business, Patricia also treks orange, plantain and cassava to nearby towns. She wants a loan to procure palm oil in large quantities so that she can distribute it to the increasing number of her customers. She has been in this business for 13 years. Patricia aspires to give her children the best education.
