Description: Cecilia Heggan is thirty-seven years old. She is a married mother of four children. One of them has completed the senior high school and has been working for a while. The rest are still in school: senior high, junior high and primary schools. She lives with her children and husband in a rented apartment in a fishing community called Aquase, near Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.
Cecilia is a food vendor. She sells kenkey in her community. She prepares the kenkey in the house she lives in and sells in the market square. Kenkey is served hot with pepper and fried fish. It is prepared from maize (corn dough). She says she procures the raw materials such as maize, fish, and other vegetables from the local market. She has been in the kenkey selling business for eight years. She wants a loan to procure raw materials in bulk. Cecilia is hopeful to give her children the needed support she can give them to further their education.
