Can flash still propose the same SEO benefits as HTML built sites?

Flash websites often present a wow factor to their audience, portraying an impressive style but can they offer the same SEO value as HTML design? When designing a website, consideration has to be accounted for regarding SEO value over design. Flash can dismiss many aspects of SEO, therefore in most cases, flash should be limited to required use.

Creative minded sites or particular brands eager to engage an audience through their visual presence will naturally favour the flash strategy, but consider the following aspects before reaching your conclusion.

Most search engines can’t crawl and index flash content making rankings lower than their potential. Sites completely flash focused will struggle to make immense impact in search results due to the lack of information available to index.

A tip towards flash use is to add the most relevant text based content within the noscript tags to improve the chance of being scouted by search engines.

Flash removes the space available to include keyword created content that places a website high in the search engine popular lists. Websites are reviewed by the content displayed, therefore if flash is used as an alternative the site will be perceived as content-free.

A benefit to flash is the level of interactivity on offer. Websites serve the purpose of visitor engagement, and flash serves a fundamental platform to achieve this better than HTML based sites.

The modern browsing audience no longer expects to be simply informed. Now a level of entertainment is anticipated too. The use of sound, animations etc immediately encourages visitors to take interest and become involved in the site.

Flash offer flexibility with embedded font choice allowing a web site developer the luxury of design freedom, opposed to HTML built platforms, which offer limited embed fonts.

If your unsure whether your audience desires a ravishing website built with the objective of engagement through flash or a simple HTML site that can still captivate imagination while also boosting SEO result, get in touh and let us implement a design strategy together.

Re: Hello from Missouri Re: Hello from Missouri - Could just be me and I could be misunderstanding the info that is needed. But, it seems the business owner might considering operating expenses etc to be confidential. I would put together a simple pitch to let them know what you're trying to do and that the business venture you propose would be beneficial to the business owner and people who own similar businesses. You're going to get further by showing them how it benefits them and especially for busy business owners. Shri
Team Building Team Building - Team building is crucial for effective business management and operation. I guess its not crucial, but it certain holds many benefits. I've built a number of teams in various businesses and have gotten fantastic results from the employees who feel like a part of the team. Shri
Re: Sales Letters: Do they work? Re: Sales Letters: Do they work? - Sales letters are a unique and very beneficial element to almost any businesses marketing and sales letters, if done professionally and ethically. According to Rudyard Kipling, 'words are the most powerful drug we humans can deliver' the reason these letters and sites work, and they do, trust me, is people they are targeted to a very specific type of person/demographic. The more you understand your market, the better you can write your sales letters and collateral material. Every form of communication essentially uses this format, identify the pain propose a solution offer proof - through testimonials outline the benefits make an offer they cant refuse etc etc if your radar flags when you read some one else's letter, that only speaks to your own integrity and how you want to be seen. In fact, some of the best sales letters every written have been for World Wildlife Fund, Foster Parents Plan, Canadian Cancer Society etc. The difference is that now mainstream businesses and especially information marketers are using these tactics. Personally the formula is used all the time in every successful campaign - you only need to decide what you are comfortable with. As far as one of the links Shri provided, I'm very familiar with his work and quite frankly wouldnt bother recommending it.... But to sum up - sales letters are an old and traditional way of motivating someone to buy - right now. dont knock it - if you aint tried it. But make sure you are 100% acting in integrity and within the comfort level of your audience. Jude
Re: Working with Camtasia Re: Working with Camtasia - I absolutely love Camtasia. It's easy to use, and the features are amazing. You can produce your video in many different formats, including flash. As ideasuniversity said, you can create a web page with the video already built in with it's own player. I usually save it as an .avi, then convert it to .mpg to save on the file size, then upload it to YouTube. Very versatile. I was lucky enough to get it free when they were offering version 3 from their site. I use it now all the time. I like it better than Windows Movie Maker. The screen capture is great for creating tutorial videos. Just get yourself a microphone and start recording. Load video clips and edit and produce a new video. The new version is even more advanced. Overall I couldn't be happier with it. Alan
Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - I think you are referring to SEO when you say buying traffic. You're actually partly right, and I say "partly" because SEO can be either. But just to look at it as a marketing tool. Helping others be informed of the service you provide is nothing bad I guess. but some really push the limits and take advantage. Anyway, I suggest you start with looking for communities where your site and its information can be useful and join the community. It can either be social networking sites or forums like these one. Ning.com has had a lot of community sites built nowadays, and the activeness of the people is unbelievable so you might be interested in joining some. Another way would be looking for blogs that talk about similar topic and exchanging links with them. This way you're helping both of your sites and the people looking for information as well. Go to wordpress.com and just look for the right categories, or go to blog directories. That would be my suggestion.
