When and what should I Tweet about?

Using Twitter as a social marketing tool can be cost-effective and productive. More businesses will explore the social network path as a modern method of promoting brand awareness. Companies are jumping into the social pool without preparation. Brands need to be cautious about what they do online. People can say whatever they wish on Twitter, but if you want to make an impact online, follow are next steps…

140 characters isn’t much. Words are usually complimented with a link, therefore the space in which to share your thoughts are very limited. Act as you believe your brand would act.

Some businesses would benefit from acting as a valuable source for industry news and information. Provide followers with essential links to resources and you will be associated as a useful contact for the industry.

There is no given time to spend networking online. Frequent tweets will naturally help build momentum quickly. However, avoid just tweeting for the sake of it. Providing ‘junk’ information on a regularly basis will halt your campaign.

Are your comments worth retweeting? Consider how any comments will be perceived by followers and friends. If it is a valuable status than others may resubmit the comment to their followers, gain you much wider exposure.

Social activity now appears in search engine results, emphasizing the SEO benefits of using social marketing and making comments visible to all. Make some of your tweets relevant to time and in the way that people would be searching information via the search engines.

Keep activity presentable and social. You want followers to have the confidence in approaching you about any tweets or services you offer. Enjoy the social scene and see how many people you can interact with.

The one stumbling block is how to deal with spam. We don't get a lot of it but I wouldn't want to Tweet out spam posts that get put up on the forums and then deleted.
Re: Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? Re: Who Said Twitter Doesn't Work...? - Hi Trent, I'd have to agree. I never intended to get deep into Twitter and rarely ever get on. Traffic is very minimal as you said, and I doubt that I'll ever make money with it unless I start getting paid to Tweet, and even then I'm not sure if that's worth it. Haven't looked into that yet, but it's definitely not even close to my main method of marketing for my business.
Re: WP Tweet Button doesn't count Re: WP Tweet Button doesn't count - Hi GT I have the same Tweet button as you do but I never enabled the counter in the settings, have you checked that the counter is enabled? MichelleJ

Just one idea...
