It’s a New Day!

It’s a new day is a statement we all should make daily. The things of yesterday can never be again and each day is a new starting point. Don’t dwell on what was or could have been but take hold of today, making it all it can be.

We often begin the day with the guilt and despair of the failures of the past. Our days are filled with sins, mistakes and things we should or shouldn’t have done. In our businesses and non-business lives we are always coming short of what we need to do. Instead of only remembering those things to learn from them and appreciating not being there any longer we beat ourselves to a place we can’t rise above it.

As we recall Bible history the Israelites were required to offer sacrifices for the sins of the past year. I’m sure as they made those sacrifices they would remember what they had done and again relive the shame of it. The sins were not forgotten but merely covered. I’m thankful that program is no longer in effect and we are cleansed of our sins. When Jesus Christ died on Calvary His blood was the sacrifice that paid for our sins. Accepting Him as our Savior gives us His forgiveness and He not only forgives but He also forgets and He sees us as if we had never sinned. So the only person who keeps recalling our sins is Satan and us. We need to realize what Jesus does for us and not require more of ourselves than He does.

We often act the way the Israelites did as we go through life, remembering and punishing ourselves for our mistakes. There is no way anyone can go back to yesterday and change what has happened. I know we all would like to but we can’t. All we can do is learn from it and not repeat it again, that is a means of growth, which comes from knowledge and gaining wisdom from it. Applying the lessons of yesterday will prepare us to face the challenges of tomorrow.

So face the day with a renewed faith and assurance that it’s the only life we have. Using each moment to be a positive influence in someone’s life while drawing strength from the past. Let the past be a force pushing toward tomorrow instead of an obstacle keeping you in yesterday.
