Potential, Use Yours
Potential is what we are capable to become. It contains no
tangible asset to hold to or to be made creditable. The possibility of worth
doesn’t exist until our energies are applied and the process is set in motion.
The possession of ability is good but the determination to achieve is required
to become.
Everyone has potential of some sort but it isn’t always for
good. Most people think of it as being a positive thing but often, wrong can
come of it. Any possibility is potential and those in bad situations have the
ability to become worse as well as improving.
We all have the potential to achieve great things but having it will
accomplish nothing. Each of us must have the drive to make it an actual
condition. Electricity uses this property as the basis to function and the
movement of it, called current, causes it to work for us. The potential is
there but until a difference between the locations where it is and where it is
going is realized, it won’t flow.
We normally take pride when we are told we have it,
potential. Our egos get bigger and we raise our heads to think someone sees
greatness in us. We need to remember they don’t see greatness they only see the
potential for it. It is like any other trait we have, it will not accomplish
anything in itself. We must put the force behind it and cause it to become a
reality. There is no value in unused potential only in that which is becoming
or has become a part of our person.
I have a quote on my desk by John C. Maxwell “God's gift to me is my
potential.
My gift back to God is what I do with that potential.” This helps me remember
that no matter what gifts or talents I have been given, I must put them into action.
God gives us what He wants us to have to achieve and serve Him, but we must do
the work for them to grow and prosper. He gives the ability; we must give the
effort so it will be seen. As the Bible states in Philippians 2:12 “… work out
your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Jesus saves us and places
salvation within us but we are to work it to the outside so others can see Him
manifest in our lives. This is how we must accomplish our potential in any area
of life. What we have in us only makes a difference when it is used.
The knowledge of our potential is profitable to guide us in
the right direction but we must follow and implement it. It will never be
fulfilled until we use the resources available to nurture its maturity. Strive
to direct your actions toward your potential; the rewards will prove the
greatness.

On another forum I read of a 17 year old, who always earned some money.
He washed cars and had regular repeat income. Eventually he gave it to his friend, then he did the newspaper round.
Then he learnt about the Internet and games. Got fed up and began to learn programming. Eventually he earnd a good income and by the time he was your age, he earned beyond 100,000 Australian Dollars.

Re: Cold Calling
- In my experience the problem with hiring cold callers is that many of the successful candidates already realize that they have a talent for sales and are already working for themselves. Most of the candidates that would take a job cold calling most likely do not have solid selling or client service skills.
I used to work for a brokerage firm in Victoria and we hired co-op students to cold call. In my opinion that was a mistake. Potential clients can sense inexperience very quickly and without a seasoned cold caller on your team prospecting will be very challenging.....the key is to find someone with skills that isn't already doing there own selling....tricky.

I would love to explain a little further. START(dot)ac is a new International CrowdFunding website, and we are launching this May 2012. CrowdFunding is when a large number of people each contribute a small amount of money to fund a project. We are forming a website to host these projects on, and building a strong and large community of individuals who are interested in helping the "next big thing" be a success. Imagine if you were there for the beginning of Google or Apple, and your donations of $1 or $500 helped to bring it to life! Along with major bragging rights, if a project is successful, people who funded it get rewards depending on how much money they gave the project.
At the summary level - We expands the CrowdFunding market to make a home for startup businesses and technology products. STARTac is the professional CrowdFunding site for startups and tech products. We also accept projects in many other categories (listed at the bottom).
We have made nine innovations that improve upon the status quo in CrowdFunding. One is that we have inverted the selection process of projects. Potential projects go into CrowdAudition™, where our members give feedback and advice to improve the projects where relevant. The members' input plays a key role in selection of which projects go to funding. About Product and its use:
Potato powder is increasingly being used in a variety of food preparations like snack foods (Mc Donald, Pringle, Haldiram namkeens etc.), soups, curries and other dishes as a thickening agent. Its use at present is mainly in hotels, restaurants, but acceptance in household is growing due to its inclusion in items like ready to cook soups, dals, curries, etc.
Market Potential:
The potato powder is supplied in bulk to the manufacturers of the various snack food items and restaurants/ hotels. The major demand is in cities like Mumbai, Delhi , Chennai, Nagpur , etc. The demand is much more than the supply at present and is likely to grow with the increasing popularity of the snack foods and other items where potato powder is used as input. There is good potential for its export also.
Production process and technology:
Procurement of potato -> Washing -> Cooking -> Pulping -> Drum drying -> Potato Powder -> Packaging -> Marketing
The plant and machinery can be used for producing other products like fruit powder, tomato powder, etc.
Key risk factors:
Availability of adequate quantity of suitable chip varieties, which are used for powder making (like Kufri Jyoti, Kufri Chipsona) is the major factor which could affect the project.
Availability of alternatives to potato powder for thickening like tapioca, corn starch etc., could affect the market of potato powder adversely. However at present there is no problem
Quality control and Statutory Requirements
The unit need to obtain a licence under FPO 1955 from the Ministry of Food Processing Industry
Clearance from State Pollution Control Board
Capacity of processing raw material (potato):
a) Indigenous technology - 32 MT/ day of potato for 90 days per annum.
b) Imported technology - 96 MT/ day of potato for 90 days
Capacity utilisation is assumed on 90 days basis as the storage facilities for these varieties are not commonly available. However, capacity utilisation can be increased if the existing cold storages are modified suitably with an additional investment of about Rs 2000/ MT.
Potato powder recovery: 17% of the raw material.
Cost of raw material (potato): Rs 2500 per MT,
Sale price of powder: Rs. 55000/ MT.
Manpower requirement:
a) Indigenous technology: Skilled and trained - 2 Nos; Unskilled - 3 Nos
b) Imported technology: Technical - 2 Nos; Skilled - 2 Nos; Semi-skilled - 3 Nos.
Power requirement:
a) Indigenous technology: 40 HP
b) Imported technology: 60 HP
Water requirement:
a) Indigenous technology: 1,50,000 litres per day.
b) Imported technology: 5,00,000 litres per day.

The unit need to obtain a licence under FPO 1955 from the Ministry of Food Processing Industry
Clearance from State Pollution Control Board
Capacity of processing raw material (potato):
a) Indigenous technology - 32 MT/ day of potato for 90 days per annum.
b) Imported technology - 96 MT/ day of potato for 90 days
Capacity utilisation is assumed on 90 days basis as the storage facilities for these varieties are not commonly available. However, capacity utilisation can be increased if the existing cold storages are modified suitably with an additional investment of about Rs 2000/ MT.
Potato powder recovery: 17% of the raw material.
Cost of raw material (potato): Rs 2500 per MT,
Sale price of powder: Rs. 55000/ MT.
Manpower requirement:
a) Indigenous technology: Skilled and trained - 2 Nos; Unskilled - 3 Nos
b) Imported technology: Technical - 2 Nos; Skilled - 2 Nos; Semi-skilled - 3 Nos.
Power requirement:
a) Indigenous technology: 40 HP
b) Imported technology: 60 HP
Water requirement:
a) Indigenous technology: 1,50,000 litres per day.
b) Imported technology: 5,00,000 litres per day.

of life. What we have in us only makes a difference when it is used.
The knowledge of our potential is profitable to guide us in
the right direction but we must follow and implement it. It will never be
fulfilled until we use the resources available to nurture its maturity. Strive
to direct your actions toward your potential; the rewards will prove the
greatness.

On another forum I read of a 17 year old, who always earned some money.
He washed cars and had regular repeat income. Eventually he gave it to his friend, then he did the newspaper round.
Then he learnt about the Internet and games. Got fed up and began to learn programming. Eventually he earnd a good income and by the time he was your age, he earned beyond 100,000 Australian Dollars.

- In my experience the problem with hiring cold callers is that many of the successful candidates already realize that they have a talent for sales and are already working for themselves. Most of the candidates that would take a job cold calling most likely do not have solid selling or client service skills.
I used to work for a brokerage firm in Victoria and we hired co-op students to cold call. In my opinion that was a mistake. Potential clients can sense inexperience very quickly and without a seasoned cold caller on your team prospecting will be very challenging.....the key is to find someone with skills that isn't already doing there own selling....tricky.

CrowdFunding is when a large number of people each contribute a small amount of money to fund a project. We are forming a website to host these projects on, and building a strong and large community of individuals who are interested in helping the "next big thing" be a success. Imagine if you were there for the beginning of Google or Apple, and your donations of $1 or $500 helped to bring it to life! Along with major bragging rights, if a project is successful, people who funded it get rewards depending on how much money they gave the project.
At the summary level - We expands the CrowdFunding market to make a home for startup businesses and technology products. STARTac is the professional CrowdFunding site for startups and tech products. We also accept projects in many other categories (listed at the bottom).
We have made nine innovations that improve upon the status quo in CrowdFunding. One is that we have inverted the selection process of projects. Potential projects go into CrowdAudition™, where our members give feedback and advice to improve the projects where relevant. The members' input plays a key role in selection of which projects go to funding. Potato powder is increasingly being used in a variety of food preparations like snack foods (Mc Donald, Pringle, Haldiram namkeens etc.), soups, curries and other dishes as a thickening agent. Its use at present is mainly in hotels, restaurants, but acceptance in household is growing due to its inclusion in items like ready to cook soups, dals, curries, etc.
Market Potential:
The potato powder is supplied in bulk to the manufacturers of the various snack food items and restaurants/ hotels. The major demand is in cities like Mumbai, Delhi , Chennai, Nagpur , etc. The demand is much more than the supply at present and is likely to grow with the increasing popularity of the snack foods and other items where potato powder is used as input. There is good potential for its export also.
