Article Overview: Time blows by us as does the wind and is just as easily controlled. Like a sailboat on the water uses the wind, we are only able to use our time as a means to move toward our goals. If the sail doesn’t catch the slightest breeze it won’t move and so we must use our time.

Time blows by us as does the wind and is just as easily
controlled. Like a sailboat on the water uses the wind, we are only able to use
our time as a means to move toward our goals. If the sail doesn’t catch the
slightest breeze it won’t move and so we must use our time.
What else in our life blows by us like time? I can’t think
of anything that passes as quickly or causes such a feeling of guilt when it’s
wasted. It seems no matter how we think we will use it; time always gets away
from us. Our best intentions and plans aren’t good enough to help control using
our time in unproductive ways. We feel it is a losing battle with no possible
way to overcome it or win.
How can we possibly stop those precious minutes from
passing with nothing being accomplished? Many people say the answer is time
management. So how do I manage something I can’t control? The only thing I can manage is myself in the
time I have. I must cause me to perform like I should in order to achieve my
desired goals. My determination must be greater than the distractions I
encounter.
Preparation and setting a schedule is the only way to keep
your time on track. Each of us needs tools to accomplish our objectives and
personal management is no different. We should take the time to set an order
and agenda for our tasks and then schedule them according to their importance
or difficulty. Often the more difficult items require more effort and so demand
more attention and warranting a higher priority.
Don’t waste your time, catch every minute and use it as a
propelling force to move you toward accomplishing your tasks. The moment you
waste today may be the one you wish you had used tomorrow. We only have each
one once and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

I myself am a 'constructive' procrastinator... I don't know if I'm alone in this.
I have about six or seven projects I'm working on at any given time. I get one project almost done... then my interest is piqued by another project and I work on that... I get burnt out and move to another...I know I do this so I have it arranged such that once I get bored or burnt out with one project, I can step right back into project 1 - or 2 or 3, and get that a little bit more done before moving on to something else.
As long as you're organized and know where all your reference material/idea sheets are when you're ready to get back to work on each project, it should be fine. I also find that by stepping away from a project - I still work on it in the recesses of my mind so that when I go back to it - it's with some good ideas that I wouldn't have had if I'd continued on with it originally.
Maybe I should write a book on how to Procrastinate Constructively... I've actually thought about doing that...because most people procrastinate, don't they...and very few are ever able to stop.
