You can’t get there from here is a statement that is often made to express the hopelessness people have in their lifestyles. They have dreams but those dreams aren’t worth the effort it would take to realize them. Most people want things better but the price is too great to pay.

How often have you wanted to accomplish something but didn’t know if it was possible? This is the way dreams begin. You want a difference in your situation but you’re not sure how to achieve it. You begin searching for an avenue that will help you and investigate every direction you could go. Following the possibilities but always conscience of other routes, watching to be sure it leads you correctly. This desire is now the goal you have created and are striving toward.

To make a goal real you must believe it is possible. So often we set a goal and we aren’t sure it is a possibility for us. We second guess our decisions and wonder if we can even perform the task after we learn how to do it. Our faith in our qualifications and abilities wavers and we question our decision to have attempted it. There is no reason we should be different than others who haven’t been able to get out of their positions. This is the voice of fear and if you listen long enough you will abandon your attempts to change and eventually your dream.

When you quit trying is when you will be lulled into complacency, reverting back to the point of dissatisfaction. You must now overcome this additional obstacle before your desire grows enough to cause you to try again. Not having a goal is like trying to get to a place you don’t believe exists. You know better things are available but you can’t believe you are able to achieve it. These actions destroy your self-confidence and will power. You are now satisfied to coast through life like everyone else because you don’t have what it takes and you proved it to yourself. We all have potential within us but if we don’t exercise it, it will never be manifest. This deprives others and us the benefit of our gifts and talents.

No matter what your dreams and goals are, never, ever give up on them. If circumstances hamper them just put them on hold until the obstacles pass and begin your quest again. Your never defeated until you decide to quit.
