Mubarak Abdullahi’s home-made helicopter takes Nigeria’s Kano Plains by storm

Yahoo! News (among other sources) carries a story from October 21st about Mubarak Muhammad Abdullahi of the Kano Plains of Nigeria who has built a working helicopter over the last 8 months using scrap aluminum and parts from a Honda Civic, an old Toyota and from the remains of a crashed Boeing 747.

This inventor has had no formal training in flying and his helicopter has never flown higher than 7 feet of the ground. In an interview, he talks about how the machine works:

“You start it, allow it to run for a minute or two and you then shift the accelerator forward and the propeller on top begins to spin. The further you shift the accelerator the faster it goes and once you reach 300 rmp you press the joystick and it takes off,”

Mubarak is ambitious however and has embarked on a new project to build a better helicopter that will be able to make 3 hour flights. He hopes to get support for his project from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and other Nigerian government bodies.

I just deleted one in the review me cat. and see it's across all cats on the forum. Just a quick heads up, fixed soon I'm sure. Don't know why they even go through the trouble, they must know we are just going to delete and ban. Entrepeneurs - That is an awesome list of questions and right on target. And, the acknolwedgement that you could fail is necessary. No matter how good any of us are, there are outside forces we cannot control and that are impossible to plan for. Look at New Orleands. Even though people knew deep in their mind that a horrible flood/hurricane was distinctly possible, there were insufficient plans to actually come through the storm when it hit. Maybe it's now illegal for school fundraisers to sell candy! [Heck, it's probably illegal for a kid to even bring a candybar of his own to school, and he'll get his parents arrested if he does so...] And the government will probablly get in the act and shut down all bake sales because they were made using "un-inspected" home kitchens instead of ones "guaranteed" to be safe... Ah, me... Big Brother is getting bigger and bigger by the second...
Re: New Window/Tab May Inhibit Posters? - I think if any link takes a visitor away from the forum when clicked then it should go to a new tab. But if it just takes them to another page on the forum when clicked it should stay in the same tab.
