My biggest obstacles were financial. I had to somehow create backup capital to be able to venture into the unknown. The risk of having no income was a big reality to me, as I had two boys by the time I went on my own. So I needed a salary from day 1. This obstacle was overcome by saving a portion of my salary since I started my business thinking. By the time I was ready, I had enough capital to survive for three to six months. I also managed the salary issue, by improving my relationship with the company I worked for. I made myself a very important part of their project (Which I knew would last for a few years) to the extend that when I left, they already promised to their clients I'd be part of the project even though only as a contractor.
