Branding Companies
Everybody wants to be the next Nike. Imagine that people are willing to buy your product just because you are the one that made it. They may not need it and the price may not be within their budgets, but they will go to whatever ends they can to get one in their hands, or on their feet as the case may be. That is the power of a brand. But, while everybody acknowledges its importance, branding companies is no easy task. Indeed, often no matter how much money a company pours into its branding strategy, it just cannot get it right. So, here are some tips to help you get it right.
First of all, you want to create something about your company that sticks in peoples’ heads. When I think of Nike, I immediately think of their slogan, “Just do it.” When someone says ‘McDonalds’ to me, I can’t help but sing their new little jingle, “Bah da bah bah bah, I’m loving it.” In fact, I’m sitting at my desk right now and I can’t get the tune out of my head. Talk about a powerful brand.
That is what you want to achieve for your company. Try and come up with a unique and memorable slogan or tagline that people will be able to immediately recall when they think of your company or your product. But make sure that it isn’t something just out of the blue. It needs to be something that expresses not only what you do, but what your company stands for and who you are.
But branding companies is not just about creating something catchy, whether it is a tagline or a logo. If you are not getting your brand out there, then nobody will know about it in order to remember it. To that end, you need to make sure that you are regularly writing press releases to the media, as well as posting them to your website and others’. Announce a new product, or hold an event and publicize it. Make sure you always have something to say, and whatever it is, say it loud and clear.
As small business owners, it is also important that we make ourselves known as experts in the industry. Look into industry conferences, both local and national, and see if you can get on the list of speakers or presenters. Create a newsletter with relevant and useful articles and distribute it to as wide an audience as possible. Establish an internship program so that the up and coming generation will become familiar with who you are. And, sponsor local charities and their events to get communities familiar with your name.
Branding companies should be considered an integral part of any entrepreneur’s strategy for success. By staying focused, on message, and committed, you too can build a strong brand that will help propel your company to the top. Stay on top of things and up to date, and your customers will happily come along with you.
