How to Get Your Website Noticed: Forum posting.
Forums are a great way to get people interesting in your website. They can have interesting bits of information, as well as speculation. Forums have been around as long as the internet in one fashion or another. Forums have a few advantages to lives chat and are archived, so when an internet search is done, it can pop up website forums.
Unlike live chat, forums stay around for as long as the web site desires. These forums can be on any topic the web designers wish, related or unrelated to the site. I would suggest something related to the site, giving web browsers something to bite into when doing web searches. The result is come hits on more web searches.
Forums are among the most common ways web site users communicate ideas. This is a way to generate both interest and original content. Though forums posts are seldom checked for factual correctness, they do generate a great deal of interest. Heavy posting is great for business as well. People who are interested in the topic will likely spend time in the forums waiting for others to post. This gives great chances for targeted marketing.
Using forums, you can post targeted banner ads, because you have been able to select a demographic. Being able to target any one group gives the website an excellent ability to tailor ads to specific interests. This is great for using tools like Google Ads or well placed banner ads.
Forums are not terribly expensive but do require moderators. These moderators can often be found in the general posting population as long as moderating is not overly complicated or tiresome. These moderators can remove content if necessary, or even keep a conversation focused when the need arises.
There are also websites that moderate forums for a fee. They can operate ad placement, and link back to a website when required, or requested. These sites have turned forum usage and money making into a fine science where particulars of a demographic have been analyzed and understood.
Additionally, forum posting on similar websites can be a marketing tool as well. Choosing similar websites, or websites that share a demographic with a forum, you can have writers post in a forum, with a link to your website. This may seem like an underhanded tactic, but it is one that has been used to great effect in recent years.
When considering a forum, here are a few tips. Consider the target audience, what are interests similar to all users? What topics could/would they like to discuss? What topics for discussion appear on the website? Remember a unified approach is important to web browsers who value continuity. With that in mind, how can you design a website to take the most advantage of a forum?
Whether or not a forum can or will be helpful is based entirely on how the website is put forward. If the web site sells clothing, then having forums based on fashion might be a good idea, also some to discuss topics related to clothing like designers of brand labels etc. Forums are not for every website, but if they can be used, they tend to be a strong marketing tool.
