10 Ways to Refresh Yourself During The Holiday Rush

We get so busy during the holidays sometimes we don't have time for ourselves. I notice that when that happens to me I get cranky and resentful. Here is a list of what I do to refresh myself during the day as I rush to complete all my work and preholiday tasks.

Take 10 minutes each day and give yourself a gift

1. Dim the lights and close your eyes. Sit in silence. If you are at work and have a private office, trya guided meditation orvisualizationusing a tape or Ipod.

2. Quietly sip a cup of tea or other warm beverage. (If you are in a place that is warm this time of year, you may want a cold drink but I find hot tea particularly soothing any time of year.) I love to do this while I watch the birds at my bird feeder. It is a special treat when I see the two cardinals that frequent my feeder.

3. Work on a cross word puzzle or any game you enjoy. I had a friend who liked to play Tetris (computer game) and found it relaxing and fun to take a Tetris break. (Careful it is just 10 or 15 minutes. It is easy to get caught up in the game and forget to get back to your tasks! Whoops! )

4. Write in your journal.

5. Listen to music.

6. Read something inspiring. (I like the short pieces in Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.) You can purchase this book from Amazon using this link.

7. Play a musical instrument if you play one or just put on your favorite CD or radio station and sing. I'll be the one singing show tunes!!

8. Take a shower.

9. Give yourself a manicure.

10. Take a walk.

Re: Want to make a fortune? Call Rush Limbaugh! Re: Want to make a fortune? Call Rush Limbaugh! - Very interesting, and what a unique way of advertising! I've listened to Rush before, as I agree with most of his viewpoints, but never have I called in. I wonder if this book was related to something Rush was talking about and taking callers for? I don't think you can just call in on any random topic that has nothing to do with what he's discussing at that time. That would be interesting to know.

Re: Want to make a fortune? Call Rush Limbaugh! Re: Want to make a fortune? Call Rush Limbaugh! - I see I didn't give enough info! On Friday when this young man called, he said that the book wasn't selling at all. So he and Rush talk about it and the young man revealed that they owed a great deal to the Marines, and so they would give a portion of the proceeds of the book to a Marines charity called The Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation. So today, Monday, three days later, the book is out of stock on Amazon. So I think it was a combination of factors. 1) The Rush Limbaugh show gets a lot of listeners, who previously hadn't heard of the book 2) A majority of Limbaugh listeners are people who support are armed forces. (Limbaugh himself had donated money to the same charity.) I [i:31abtpem]hope [/i:31abtpem]the book is good! And I hope the two authors follow through on their promise to donate that money! (I've heard of a lot of scams where people say a family member has cancer, and they get a lot of donations, which they then spend on themselves!) However, these guys sound legit, so I'm happy for them!
Men and Women, or Republican vs Democrat? Men and Women, or Republican vs Democrat? - >>I don't know many men who talk about the environment so I think you're right that it probably wouldn't be in their top ten It all depends on what you mean by the environment. Global warming? Yes...men such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannitty and Neal Boortz say it's not happening and that it's just an anti-capitalist plot. And I think the Republicans prefer to believe that while Democrats - male, ie Al Gore - are pushing it for all its worth. Meanwhile female Sheryl Crowe is telling us to use one square of bathroom tissue a piece... that's just plain silly! If American Women were that concerned about the environment they'd all be riding their bikes to work instead of driving those big old SUVs...
