The 10 Minute Way to Boundless Energy
What if you could significantly increase your energy today?
Personal energy is the stuff that get things done. It is what gives us the power to face down fears and take action anyway. It is the stuff that makes us attractive to others, and attractive to the people and resources that will help us reach our goals. Have you ever wondered about someone, and they called within moments?... This kind of coincidence happens frequently when you have plenty of personal energy.
There are many obvious routes toward increasing our energy, such as as exercise, but what if someone has barely enough energy to do that? What then?!
One way to understand our energy is as the masters do. That is, that energy is given us daily as a part of being human. It is like a stream that always flows to us, that we need do nothing to access. And whether we understand the source of this energy as divine or as science doesn't matter. Regardless of if we exercise "right" or eat anything at all, we will still be given enough energy to get out of bed and do something!
But "just getting out of bed" is hardly enough to get excited about. So what can we do to take our energy level to a whole new level? As Dan Milman so succinctly put it, "our primary job in managing energy is to plug leaks." So, what is the simplest way to do this?
Energy leaks are defined as anything that takes your focus away from relating or creativity. In other words, leaks are anything that distract you from things that make you feel happy, juiced or extra alive. For instance, a cluttered desk is an energy leak; an honest conversation (even if difficult) is not. A stain on your couch is an energy leak, making new cushions is not.
Energy leaks can sometimes take the form of entire relationships, but more often, they are those little things that steal your attention for a moment here and there throughout your day.
The key to increasing your energy is to handle these energy leaks as you see them. The beauty of this is that often 10 minutes of focused attention will yield buckets of positive energy for you. This will then give you plenty of motivation to exercise, relate or create! These things, in turn, will give you even more energy, and the Victory-Cycle (as opposed to the vicious-cycle) continues...
Take a few moments to jot down a list of 20 energy leaks in your life and decide to handle a half a dozen today. Take the whopping 60 minutes or so to address the easiest ones, because you are worth that hour! The energy that will be released will astound you, and you will easily gain plenty to take care of the larger things and soon enough, to launch your dreams.
Get a handle on your energy. You are the only one who can.
