The Top 10 Limits to Liberation
1. beliefs about life
whether you believe that life is "a struggle" or a "bowl of cherries," your notion of what life is limits your perception of it.
2. unhealthy relationships
Who supports your own best decisions? Who encourages you to doubt yourself? Look closely for clues, and draw boundaries accordingly.
3. the desire to be right
means only more of the same has a place in your brain. Why not expand to allow a little wrongness for spice?
4. a sense of linear time
can't you relive your first kiss? or imagine your retirement anytime? When really is Now, if what you are actually experiencing is then?
5. identifying oneself as being a body
If you can HAVE a body, who is the YOU?!
6. behavior that clogs your bloodstream, colon, lungs, etc.
If life is all about flow, why do things that clog up these simple systems?
7. an unexamined life, mind, emotion, or motion
As Socrates said: if it's unexamined, it isn't worth living.
8. poverty, hunger, disease, and the like
not because these things have the power to stop us from really enjoying our lives, but because many of us thought that they could.
9. unfinished business
especially the personal sort. One 'cliffhanger' can hold you up emotionally for longer than a TV season.
10. addiction
like number 8 above, addiction limits your liberation only to the degree you believe that it will. Hey, to see a pattern, don't you have to already be above it?
