Top Ten Ways to Liberate Yourself From Troubling Emotions of a Past Situation

Top Ten Ways to Liberate Yourself From Troubling Emotions of a Past Situation

The Top 10 Ways to Liberate Yourself from Troubling Emotions of a Past Situation We all face a confusing cocktail of emotions now and again. This list holds ten keys to liberate you from the dehabilitating effects of nontemplation (aka: negative contemplation). Do any one of these things and bring your focus where it most pleasantly could be: right here right now!

1. Take a moment to introduce yourself to two powerful notions:

"Positive affirmations work great for me" followed by "I am at peace with my past."

2. Make an executive summary of the situation ... and include only the truth of that which is your responsibility. (Hint: on the executive summary level, your emotions and actions are COMPLETELY your responsibility). Example: I am upset that I am feeling ______ way about my life, and I don't know what to do to make it better.

3. Make a poem, a painting, a piece of music about your mix of emotion One of the best things high art can do for us: take a complexity and express it with economy. Perhaps in the creation, you will find some inspiration...

4. Make three new decisions to enhance your future.

While your mind is reeling, you have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of your better tomorrow..

5. Decide to handle similar situations in a whole new way.

What made that mess occur anyway? Maybe poor communication on your part, or a lack of necessary boundaries? Perhaps you needed something you forgot to provide for yourself, or your expectations of others was through the ceiling? Decide something new so next time you stay serene...

6. Get physical If you feel like punching someone, or putting yourself into a stupor, it's for a good reason: Your body needs to discharge something. Make a positive choice here and walk, run, or dance your way through the release.

7. Give yourself the gift of sharing your experience... in 10 minutes or less!

An infinite time limit to "get over it" means you might use it.

Yikes!

8. Pray.

Pray for answers if you want them, or the peace to release without a clue. Pray for the heart to forgive the entire situation (and all the players). Pray to pray like people who always get answered.

9. Know that even if you don't believe it, your every current thought is a prayer anyway...

If you are asking "why" something terrible went down, your mind might stay stuck in nontemplation. If you think "how can I get free?" you will.

10. Lighten up. Yes, YOU! Yes, NOW!

If you read this list-- and found yourself reacting to the "instructions" herein-- you can bet you are taking your life way too seriously. Truth is: No matter what you think-- or even how you think you are stuck in your thinking-- you are already free. hee hee! :-)
