In Pursuit of Excellence

It is very easy in today’s ‘quick fix’ society to sacrifice quality and give in to mediocrity.

There are too many products in the marketplace that are nothing more than crap with a pretty package, (sometimes even the packaging is garbage) put out by individuals with false hopes of making a fast buck at the customer’s expense. Unfortunately, everyone ends up losing in this scenario: the customer ends up with a bad experience and they tell all their friends, the product ends up being returned or in the recycle bin, and usually the company in question eventually ends up bankrupt. Rest assured, people who push crap by putting lipstick on pigs will end up fried bacon.

Hero souls are rare individuals who are always striving for more, always striving to improve, always committed to doing better than their best. They are in pursuit of excellence 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To be your best, you have to be willing to do more, to strive a little more, to know a little more, to reach a little higher and go beyond yourself.

Whether you are a student, office worker, entrepreneur, or artist, I encourage you to make the extra effort in bettering yourself and your craft every day and commit to excellence. If you are a student, learn more than just the assigned topic; bring an extra dimension into your research by digging further and offering more than what is expected. If you are an entrepreneur, learn from other disciplines outside your expertise and research the competition to genuinely improve your product instead of just mouthing, “we’re the best at what we do.” If you’re an artist, risk rejection by putting your soul on the line by grasping at truth beyond yourself, even if you can’t quite fully understand and explain what lies beyond you.

I promise you that if you commit your life to excellence, now, today, you will separate yourself from the crowd and stand miles ahead. People will seek you out, and be willing to pay a premium for your service or product. Why am I willing to pay three or four times more for a Haagen-Dazs ice-cream or a Starbuck’s coffee when I know others are selling for less? Because they genuinely have a quality product and don’t have to bullshit me by saying ‘they are the best.’ Don’t boast about how good you are, commit to excellence and let the facts speak for themselves.

Legacy Legacy - Thinking about leaving a legacy, most people think it got to do with money. It is much more than that. In my opinion it is a reflection of someones live well lived. eg Someone can leave a 'Spirit of Caring for others' or a 'Spirit of Excellence' . There is absolutely no end of ways to encourage people to achieve their goals and dreams. We have so many people , who make us think, how we should live. The example of Trump is there. Any other viewpoints? Beat "Unlock People's Potentials!!"
Is there a need for correct English? Is there a need for correct English? - Hi, I am originally of German tongue. By the way, it is not the easiest language to learn. Then I learnt French, which I spoke fluently long time ago. You loose it if you don't use it. For over 30 years I am in England and need only to speak English. I realize, that I have some imperfections. Sometimes it is back to front etc. Does anyone know, who is best qualified to correct my future articles? Or, does anybody care, how it is written today? 'Anything goes' people say. Is Excellence in English writing important? Kindest regards Beat "Unlock People's Potentials!"
Re: The secret to happiness Re: The secret to happiness - Happiness comes from within. We choose whether we want to be happy or not. Circumstances can influence our feelings, but in the end, it's up to us how we deal with our circumstances, positively or negatively. I admire anyone who can stay strong and be happy through adversity. There will always be challenges that we face, but I believe that if we face them with our heads held high, the odds of overcoming them are much greater. This reminds me of the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness." Happiness spelled wrong for a reason. One of Will Smith's greatest movies. I encourage you all to watch it as it's very inspiring.

Re: Millionaire or Happyness? Re: Millionaire or Happyness? - [quote="mphcoach":2xpspnai]I recently watched the movie 'In Pursuit of Happyness' and was rather disappointed that the 'happiness' achieved was merely the accumulation of wealth.[/quote:2xpspnai] Hi Martin, I actually loved the movie, and interpret the "pursuit of happyness" as Chris Gardner setting a goal in life and then reaching it through the process of hard work and a fighting spirit. In fact, I once heard that people who work harder are actually happier than those who are talented. The logic behind this mindset is that people tend to enjoy their success more when they feel they've struggled to earn it. However, I still think a person is better off being rich and unhappy, rather than being poor and unhappy.
