Business Coach or Executive Coach: These are the Top 7 Reasons Why You Need A Pricing Schedule
Business coaches are in the business to help people and to make a living. Given the explosion within this industry, there are a lot of people in the coaching business coaching industry worldwide. However, research suggests that most do not exceed $50,000 annually and less than 10 out of every 100 make over $100,000 a year.
If you are a business coach or executive coach and wish to increase sales, then maybe it is time to construct a pricing schedule that looks at all of your time and not just billable hours. These 7 reasons may help to convince you the importance of such a schedule.
Reason #1: Real businesses Have Pricing Schedules
Have you ever visited a grocery store or retail store without knowing the price at checkout. There may be discrepancies in the price due to bar coding, but you always know the price. The price is not subject to negotiation.
Reason #2: Pricing Schedule Reinforces Your Value
When you lack a pricing schedule, you have subconsciously diminished your value. You begin to give prices without totally understanding all of the time needed within the current coaching project or consulting project.
Reason #3: Pricing Schedules Creates Consistency
We live in a very small world. People know people and people talk to other people. By having a pricing schedule, you create consistency so that no one can inadvertently slip and give a price that may be higher than the one you quoted.
Reason #4: Pricing Schedules Establish a Foundation for Additional Product Creation
As more and more business coaches and executive coaches offer products from coaching programs to e-books or reports, these services and products need to be in alignment. Pricing schedules allow for uniformity within all the services and products you offer. For example, you give someone a price on coaching. A commitment is made and then the new client visits your website and sees a different price for a comparable service. This discrepancy can potentially begin to build suspicion within your client and damage your overall relationship.
Reason #5: Pricing Schedules Allow You to Raise Your Prices Systematically
Once you become busier, available time is reduced. By having a fixed pricing schedule, you can anticipate this capacity issue and let your clients know that by a specific date you will be increasing your coaching fees.
Reason #6: Pricing Schedules Work with Your Strategic Plan
The growth of your coaching business should be predicated upon your strategic plan. You can use the pricing schedule for future growth projections as well as financial projections.
Reason #7: Why Wouldn’t You Have a Pricing Schedule
You have spent a lot of time working your business. Then should not you receive compensation for that time? A consistently applied pricing schedule helps you to determine your actual expended work efforts including time researching, working on a client’s additional needs to working on your website or other marketing strategies.
Of course you could do what many business coaches and executive coaches do, use the spray and pray approach. Spray your price and pray that it sticks. However, a solidly constructed pricing schedule will provide far more value even if it takes some precious time to develop.
If any of these reasons may sense to you, then take the time now to establish your pricing schedule if you truly want to get to where you want to be.

Re: Business Coaching Resources
- You're fortunate when you can find a Business Coach who has experience beyond where you've been and even where you are going. When your budget is slim and even after, it's good to have a mentor. Several of various backgrounds are very useful. They can be teachers, professors, pastors, business people, family members, bosses and former bosses.
You have to be clear on what you want and what you desire to achieve, be able to convey it as simply as possible. Stop and listen and don't over tax their time.
You should always expect results whether from a Business Coach or Mentors. If you're not gtting results, you're either not focused or you need to upgrade the quality of your mentors/coaches. Always surround yourself by people smarter than you.
What are you doing to grow your business Ladies?
- Hi Ladies,
I thought it might be great for us women to share what we are doing lately to develop our business(es).
I have now signed a lease on a new commercial space where my husband and I plan to open a Sport's Consignment and Cappuccino Bar. We're an active tourist destination and we also want to give back to our local community by offering discounted quality equipment. I'm doing lots of research and planning right now.
For my Coaching Business, I have signed up for a new coaching mentorship program by one of USA's top Executive Coach trainers, Drayton Boylston. He's sure to challenge me, offer continued professional development and keep me on track as I grow my Coaching business. I'm quite excited about the opportunity since you have to be invited to even participate in this group.
What are you doing lately or what are you planning in order to develop your business?
I'm hoping we can all encourage each other to keep our businesses growing.
Warm regards,
Tami
Post subject: Too successful for a mate?
- That was an interesting article, Shri!
Most of the women I know who continue to be single have some type of self limiting behavior which interferes with them either meeting or attracting the perfect mate for them.
They are incredible and talented women, they just haven't set themselves up for relationship success. I know there are men who may be intimidated, but there are also men who aren't. Some men are attracted to smart women!
My advice to these women would be to focus on creating the right environment for a relationship to happen. This would be a great time to hire a Life Coach or Relationship Coach.
Taking action to get ready for a relationship doesn't mean having to be aggressive in finding a man. It's more subtle. If you don't make room for a man in your life, you might just squeeze out the opportunity before he gets to you. As well, you may be sending off all the wrong signals without realizing it.
Seriously, I don't think successful women are off the proverbial "good wife material list". However, if you think yourself off of it then don't be surprised if you fulfill your own prophecy.
Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight
- Hi Everyone,
Gosh, I REALLY appreciate your concrete feedback. This was far more than I expected and I'm glad you said what you thought straight out.
Each of you have shared something of value and I want to take some more time to think and really go over what each of you have said. However, I can see there are some things I need to change right away. What an interesting point about a NEW program perhaps making people think they are guinea pigs! This is NOT what I want to convey!
It's funny how we can see some things so clearly in others while not always seeing it for ourselves! I must admit there are a few things I've been meaning to change (like my bio which is very outdated). Obviously, these things need to be higher on my priority list. You caught me like the plumber who puts his clients first and doesn't get around to fixing his own tap!
As far as my target market, I do feel quite strongly about working with Women Leaders and doing Leadership Coaching with them. It's non-negotiable in my books. In my Executive Coaching training, the terms "Leaders" and "Executives" are interchangable. To me, an Executive is a Leader and so is the Business Woman or Entrepreneur who is CEO of her own business. I love working with decision makers!
What I did learn is that I need to avoid opening up the Leadership term beyond what I described above. I'm also wondering if there is a misunderstanding with the general public as to what Leadership Coaching really is.
Leadership Coaching is all about developing your leadership skills, both as a people manager and in more effectively running and growing the business. There is ALWAYS room for growth in some way. As well, sometimes, we just need a sounding board to clarify what our next BEST step is.
In fact, if a woman thinks she has nothing to work on, then we aren't a good Client/Coach fit anyway. How can she grow if she doesn't see the value of expressing ALL of the great ability within her? How can her company grow if she doesn't see the value of strategic planning for the next best level?
Thanks again to you all! I will go back to my website and really question whether I am conveying the right message.
I got more than I bargained for in this Spotlight... you generously offered way more than I was asking. I think we could be on to something great for the Forum.
Now it's time to let someone else have the spotlight. It would be great if everyone took a turn!
In gratitude,
Tami
Greetings From Destiny's Door
- Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the invitation to introduce myself. I'm looking forward to being part of the discussions here.
I called my business "Destiny’s Door Coaching" because I believe you already have everything it takes to create the business of your dreams. The door to your destiny stands always open. The choice is up to you.
I work with Business Women and Entrepreneurs who want to create a life and business that matches their true potential, while still allowing them time to do the things they love most. I support them as they discover how to work smarter and not harder.
I coach because I am passionate about seeing women achieve amazing things when they fully accept their own greatness. Business really gives women a great opportunity to express their passions and purpose in a way that also brings financial rewards.
I believe you are highly important as the foundation of your business. As you grow and unleash your true potential, you enable your business to do the same.
In fact, I'm doing that personally through my own business. I coach women and write articles inviting women to step into greater personal success. As a Certified Life Coach with a Degree in ministry, this is a perfect fit for me.
On a personal level, I believe in living fully alive and making the most of every moment. I even have my own Coach! Of course, life is always a work in progress, but I keep moving forward. I do this happily in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of B.C. with my husband and two feline companions.
Anyhow, I look forward to meeting you through the forum where we can challenge and inspire each other to really grow towards our full potential.
Let’s really commit to creating the businesses of our dreams. I’ll meet you at Destiny’s Door!
Warmly,
Tami
