How This Critical Success Factor, A Laser Focus Attitude Required To Win Increase Sales

Critical success factors are present in every business from securing new clients to keeping fixed costs low. However, this one critical success factor, a laser focus attitude, is missing from many businesses and sales professionals.

To increase sales requires a laser focus attitude in many areas. One of the primary areas is being able to quickly identify your target market and even better yet your top 5 potential qualified customers (a.k.a. qualified prospects). These individuals or organizations are also identified as your sales targets that evolved from your market research within your strategic action plan. Sales Coaching Tip: Marketing and sales action plans are required and not an option.

The lack of this attitude is very apparent when talking with my sales coaching clients to working with business networking groups. Just the other day at one of these groups, Indiana Business Networking, I asked the 15 members present to share one ideal potential client or target market. About 20% could quickly respond to this question with 60% having some trouble and the final 20% remaining absolutely clueless.

One of the members when pressed to respond with specificity said her target markets was any health care professional with a database. After further clarifying questions from other members, she finally identified chiropractors as a key market for her products and services.

What was interesting to note is that the 80% who could not quickly provide a response were quite uncomfortable during this process. They had all to a person expressed that they were having challenges achieving their goal to increase sales.

This does not surprise me as given that I suspect their marketing and sales actions could be called "spraying and praying." These folks are spraying their activities all over the place and praying something will stick. As my good friend, coach and colleague, Doug Brown has so often said, "People confuse motion with progress and activity with results."

What would happen to your business if you, as one radio talk show hosts so often states "focus like a laser beam," adopted a laser focus attitude? Consider writing down your top 5 potential qualified customers. Then let everyone you now that you desire to meet these individuals. According to Bob Beaudine, author of The Power of Who, you already know everyone you need to know to reach that next level of business or personal success. All you must do is to take action through your laser focus attitude to leverage this critical success factor if you wish to increase sales.

Success Strategies and Action Steps I have used are: The Power of Choice Where you are at this present moment, is exactly perfect from the choices you have made. If you want to be somewhere else, you have to decide clearly what that is (your goal/outcome) and create action steps to achieve this. The Power of Focus The book "The Power of Focus" by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Les Hewitt, is one of my treasures in my Entrepreneur Library. If you focus on what you want versus what you do not want, your conscious and sub-conscious mind will direct attention to this. The movie, What the Bleep, Down the Rabbit Hole, explains this in detail about quantum physics and what we create in our lives. The Power of Commitment This is not about commitment to others. The first step is the commitment, your word, you make to yourself. Accountability and responsibility are additional success strategies and ingredients to creating the success, defined by you, that you want. Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional - Hi Evan, I am noticing that many of the posts in the Sales/Marketing section deal with online marketing, SEM and and SEO and Affiliates. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to separate that section into two; 1) Online Sales and Marketing; 2) Traditional Sales and Marketing

Re: Subject line Etiquette Re: Subject line Etiquette - [quote="jvprosperity":b50c4a20]Another email rant: Is there some place on the internet that outlines proper "Subject line" headings? There mus be a system out there that people use to be more efficient email senders. Not everything that comes into my mail box requires my immediate attention. I would love to educate myself and the people who send me emails on proper subject lines. Maybe something like: "Urgent Review: <<Title of document>>" "Decision Required: "<<Subject matter>>" just something for me to quickly scan the subject lines and decide which ones need my immediate attention. Anyone know of such email standards that exist out there?[/quote:b50c4a20] The only messages I get that say Urgent or Decision Required etc are spam. I tell people to put something relevant to their business with me in the subject line - this is especially important for the people who fall into my junk mail. Chris
