How to Overcome the Human Condition to Forget
Forgetting is part of the human condition. For a variety of reasons, it is much easier to forget than to remember. With the passing of each day unless it a day where a strong emotional connection has already been made, remembering is difficult given how much new information is entering everyone’s brains on a daily basis.
In life including business, remembering to do this or to do that consistently usually takes a back seat to the next critical item that lands on the daily to do plate. This condition of forgetting becomes an attitude, a habit of thought.
Forgetting is ingrained within the human condition. This is another reason why having a written action plan be it business or a personal growth one reinforced with written WAY SMART goals is such an absolute necessity. Note: W=Written; A=Aligned to your Purpose, Plans and Passion; Y=Yours; S=Specific; M=Measurable; A=Attainable; R=Realistically set high; T=Target Date, Time Driven.
Remembering takes action. Tools such as written action plans, goal worksheets and even positive belief or affirmation statements all help the mind to remember. Additionally, when what is to be remembered has an extreme emotional impact, this may also help the individual not to forget.
As we celebrate those days of remembrance from funerals to national days such as Nine-Eleven, Fourth of July, Pearl Harbor, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving to D-Day, take a few moments to remember and say a prayer for those who can never forget and for those who can never remember again.
