Leave Your Big Ego at The Door If You Wish to Increase Sales

To grow a business means that sales must be increased. Yet with the highly competitive marketplace, this challenge to increase sales is a difficult one. As a sales trainer and business coach, one of the ongoing obstacles that I have observed is that egos are not left at the door.

Just think back to a recent networking event. How many people began talking to you about what they can do for you and really did not give you an opportunity to talk? Their egos were going faster than the speed of sound in their attempts to impress you with all of their stuff.

Selling today more than ever before is about people buying you. Again, let me repeat, people must buy you before they will buy what you have for sale. When your ego gets in your way, people do not buy you and consequently you have lost the opportunity to increase sales.

Possibly by now, you have had one or more these thoughts:

Of course, I know that
What do you think, I am stupid?
People buy me all of the time?

Then you probably have all the sales you want. And, frankly, I am just curious as to why you are reading this article.

As we all know that we need our egos to survive and thrive. Within any proven and sustainable sales process, we must tone down our egos and focus on meeting the needs of suspects, prospects and potential clients or customers.

When we are out “spewing" products or services in the attempt to show how great we are, we are truly in a high ego state. Our focus is not on someone else, but rather on ourselves.

So if you desire to increase sales, remember to leave your big ego at the door. Focus authentically and genuinely on others and you will begin to see your sales grow.

Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional Online Sales and Marketing vs Traditional - Hi Evan, I am noticing that many of the posts in the Sales/Marketing section deal with online marketing, SEM and and SEO and Affiliates. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to separate that section into two; 1) Online Sales and Marketing; 2) Traditional Sales and Marketing

Re: Twitter Censorship? Re: Twitter Censorship? - I haven't heard that but it wouldn't surprise me. Seems like there are people/governments/sites all over the place trying to get internet censorship. Personally I think it's a bad idea. Once you open that can of worms then where does it stop? Leave it be and see what it can truly grow into!
Re: How should i promote a new website? Re: How should i promote a new website? - I forgot to mention another good one. Leave you business cards (with your website on it) in public places that you go. Even in bathrooms on the sink or on top of the hand blow dryer. People are curious as to what it might say. Also make sure you put something on it that will tell them what you sell. Not just the name of your business.
