How to Leverage Your Work to Make More Money in Less Time

When you create a product, service, process or system for your small business it takes a lot of thought, planning and time. It's important that you find ways to leverage your work by using it again and again to make more money in less time.

For example, maybe you're developed a system for creating and marketing downloadable products such as e-books, audio series, video series, or e-courses. Although this is oversimplified your system might look something like this:

· Survey clients/subscribers to find out what they really need and are willing to buy

· Develop an outline for the product or service and decide on the format

· Research what else is already out there-competition

· Set product creation schedule

· Create product, including product cover graphic

· Create marketing plan to launch product

· Locate possible joint venture partners or affiliates

· Develop marketing materials

· Create a marketing timeline

· Ask trusted colleagues to review product and submit testimonials

· Create web sales page for product

· Implement all marketing strategies and release product

Once you’ve refined this process, including the timeline, and its working successfully you could repeat it over and over for each new product you create.

In addition you would want to leverage the different "parts" of your product. Say it's an e-book. You could take several of the pages and use them as articles that you submit online, or use as blog posts or web pages. You could use the parts for a longer program or home study course. If you have a video product, you could post one of the videos to You Tube and other online video sites.

The idea is to not keep re-doing work you've already done.

You can also leverage articles, blog posts, processes you develop for billing and payment, marketing systems-anything that you can use over and over. Why keep reinventing the wheel!

Another way to leverage your work is to re-purpose or re-package products you already have. By doing some simple editing and customizing you may be able to sell your product to another vertical market. For example, say you created a home study course called “Step-by-Step System for Organizing Your Home Office”. You could also have a step-by-step organizing system home study course for organizing your closets, your kitchen cabinets, your e-mail etc. By simply re-purposing the same system in different ways you could leverage your work to dramatically increase your sales.

So go to your computer and take a look at all those old articles, blog posts, worksheets, half written books, audios and other work you’ve already created and figure out how you can leverage it by turning it into something new.

This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully. regards, Mal.

Question: What has been your biggest business challenge? Question: What has been your biggest business challenge? - Regardless of the industry they may be in, it seems all small business owners and entrepreneurs face similar key challenges in growing their business and becoming as profitable as they would like. These can be grouped into the categories of "Time", "Team", "Money", and "Exit Strategy". What has been your most significant challenge, the one that seems to be your biggest hurdle to moving forward and achieving the level of business success (however you define that) that you would like to? If you could have one issue solved in your business, what would that be? Your insights are invaluable and I appreciate your honesty. Regards, Gavin

Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? Re: Which would you start: a Blog or Online Community? - It is a difficult decision to make. Lets start it this way - What are you more interested in? Money? or Friends? or Both? If its purely Money, then Blog might be an appropriate answer. But consider this - It will be people (visitors) that will bring traffic to your blog and then Money will follow. This will be possible after a time and during this time it will be your friends who will be the starters. If you are looking for friends only, then its true that not many will be interested in knowing how you have beaten them in the game or the other way round. So it will be preferable to have a Forum where they can share ideas with you and others. But you can share your insider knowledge with them and invite comments from your Blog. You can also put up information on what others (including your friends) don't know about Tennis. The blog you create can provide News, Inside Information and also Techniques that can be used by the new entrants in the world of Tennis.
