Are you losing your focus?

I can ask the right questions, but it is up to you to provide the answers!

I am coaching two clients who are both in the process of establishing new businesses. The first was keen to develop her marketing strategy by seeking out new clients and exploring new markets.

At the second coaching session she had not made any progress. She was procrastinating. She was busy surfing the net, or organising her diary. She was lost in trivial tasks, and constantly finding excuses for not “getting out there”.

I refocused her by asking the question, “What do you need to do to move the business forward?”

My second client had an established customer base. But she was overwhelmed by all her contacts, and was losing focus. She needed to take a step back in order to prioritise.

Generally, we find short-term goals easier to focus on, rather than the big picture. In this case, giving full attention and service to her top ten clients was the key.

These two clients are not unique in their experiences. For most of us, taking the next step in order to grow is very challenging. We all procrastinate before we move out of our comfort zone.

We fear rejection, and yet, once we have taken that first step, often we are surprised by the outcome. If we have a positive attitude about the product or service we are offering, we are able to get out there and create that niche market.

I asked the second client, “How can you focus your attention on this problem to achieve a positive result?” Her answer was to make herself accountable. “If I tell some key people in my life what my goals are, then I have to achieve them.” Developing positive partnerships can give us encouragement to take those first steps.

Focus on your goal, then work out what steps you need to take to get there. Maybe making daily lists will help you prioritise. It is too easy to make excuses for not getting started. As a coach I will challenge you at subsequent sessions to be accountable for your inactivity.

Through my coaching I empower you to identify the most effective way of finding your goal. I help you articulate your aim. I teach you to focus.

But it is your goal. You alone can reach it.

Re: is this a scam? Re: is this a scam? - I don't like it either GT. And I'm not surprised that our lovely "Sarah" to whom our hearts go out after losing her job, found an even better one in [i:27ni1plz]your[/i:27ni1plz] neighboring town. She must be moonlighting as a traveling entrepreneur - the very job I want! Law of polarity is a law of the universe which is just as valid as law of attraction. Law of polarity says that there is an opposite to all that exists. So with every honest business effort there is a deceptive one at play, also. It's our job to notice the polarities but to focus our attention on what we want, not what we don't want. This forum is a place with a great vibration that helps to keep all of our focuses on higher ideals for ourselves, other individuals and the whole. Thanks for you input and explaining how "they" found out where I live. Nancy
Re: I made $5millions Liberty reserve and perfectmoney profit in Re: I made $5millions Liberty reserve and perfectmoney profit in - That's true! I have never and will never invest in one of them. They always get shut down eventually and people end up losing a lot of money.
Re: Focus groups Re: Focus groups - I agree with Kevin.. There are lots of great ways of getting feedback on a new product other than paying for a focus group. I don't have any experience with focus groups personally, however I can't imagine it's going to be cheap. Phil
Prequalify an existing business Prequalify an existing business - Getting pre-qualified for financing is a very important step in due diligence when purchasing or starting up a business. But how many people know that also prequalifying an already existing business (an aquisition) that you plan to purchase is equally as important? I cannot even begin to tell you how many people either not seeking a bank loan or can't get one because the bank thinks the risk is too high so they end up financing the business via personal means and commit financial suicide each year because they purchased a business that is doing poorly. When going to a bank, they want to review a good business plan and the business tax returns to ensure they are not taking on a losing business deal. I've heard of people who lost life savings, retirement funds, took out a 2nd mortgage or Home Equity line of credit or borrowed money from frends and family to buy a business that was losing money. They either do not know any better or they thought they can turn the losing business around. The risk of assuming you can turn a business around is too high and there isn't a lender out there who will finance that for you, so why would you? Here's some tips- Stay clear of business owners not willing to release official business financials such as tax returns. Be wary of those who say their business is actually doing well, but then say their tax returns do not reflect that information because they are not claiming all their income. A lot of business owners will show a balance sheet or monthly or yearlyProfit & Loss statements to the prospective buyer (that anyone can create on a computer) which means the documentation can be false. Speak to a professional and have a professional look over the business tax returns, whether or not you plan on doing a bank loan. Make sure that what you are getting into is a good deal from the get go.
Selling a Business Selling a Business - There are so many factors that need to be considered in selling a business, it can be daunting. Is there anyway your business can be re-located without losing value? In other words, how restricted are you in the location you're in now?
