“May the force be with you” – and stay with you!

Are you an entrepreneur? Do you have huge energy resources? Are you full of stimulating, creative ideas?

But does this leave you feeling stressed, and not able to focus? Is this creativity channeled effectively?

This month I participated in a series of “tele-class” workshops where I connected with coaches from around the world. We focused on two particular areas of learning to help us coach our entrepreneurs more effectively.

Firstly we explored ways to allow them to maintain their energy whilst putting into place structures to help them succeed.

Secondly we talked about ways in which they could look after themselves, preserving their “personal foundation”, whilst still remaining creative and energetic.

A large proportion of my clients are entrepreneurs. They are inspiring people to work with. Frequently, though, the staff around them are disillusioned, especially when these entrepreneurs are unable to delegate, and want to retain control.

They have no effective systems in place. Their judgment may be impaired, and they are not in touch with “the grass roots”.

So what does this mean for you?

With one of my clients, Nikki, we are redressing the balance in her life so that she is less stressed, and more fulfilled. She has to focus on factors critical to her success, and be able to recognize the benefits of doing this.

Nikki has fabulous ideas, but has to learn how to manage a huge amount of paperwork in the office to be effective. By asking her pertinent questions, I got her to focus more on the administrative work, and to realize the importance of getting a good system in place.

As a result, she set aside a regular day each week to attend to the office side of things. She set up reminders at her desk, and on her computer, to ensure she carried it through.

She felt the benefits of being much happier and in control. And this all came from her own ideas and motivation.

I regard this as critical in my coaching. You talk. I listen. As the adrenalin starts flowing I may ask questions to keep you on track, but you provide the solutions yourself. I merely drill down to pinpoint the keys to further action.

By engaging in an international forum not only was I able to continue my professional growth, but also, by learning from leading coaches, I was able to re- affirm some of the tools I use to help you.

Re: Personality Not Included Re: Personality Not Included - [quote="BuzzAroundBooks":1lqypk3c]Hi Shri, Is this business book about developing your company's brand image or your own? Should an entrepreneur always market themselves as the driving force behind their business? Don't a lot of small business owners like to remain anonymous because they want to appear larger than a "one person show"?[/quote:1lqypk3c] I would figure everyone has their own take on your questions. But, the book is about creating a personality for the business - any size business. It also points out very well how a business can falter without a distinct and positive personality. Awesome reading for any business owner or manager. I highlighted MANY points and will read it again to reinforce the points. Focusing on the owner's expertise doesn't mean they are a "one man show". They can be viewed as the "driving force" behind the business. I just saw an ad that sparked this idea. Take for example the law firm that Johnnie Cochran owned before his death. He was a big part of the brand for the company and was the driving force who molded the direction that the company took - but, he was certainly not a one man show. Shri
My Mentor My Mentor - I do have a mentor, it's my boss at my full time job! He hired me as a part timer 4 years ago and at that time I was a stay at home mom returning to the work force after 17 years of raising 3 kids! Two years after he hired me, I went full time and without his knowledge, advice, guidance over the last 4 years I may not have gotten as far as I am today. (Note: I said not [u:3eacidhz]as far[/u:3eacidhz]) But I would have gotten here regardless, he just helped speed the process! I'm happy at my full time position and now I'm also running a small business on the side and helping my husband (when I can) with his home based business as well as helping to moderate here on Evan Charmichael! I don't think i've done too bad in 4 years!
Re: How to network for inventors Re: How to network for inventors - Hi Kevin, You need to find ways to keep in touch and stay top of mind. What I've done, for example, is created a list of the most important 30 people that I want to stay in touch with. Some of top authors, some are customers, some are partners, some are prospects, etc. I make a point to find a way to stay in touch with them every month by helping them out. I'll look for articles that might support their business, try to make introductions that will be useful and invite them to events that they will find valuable. You can't do this for everyone you meet because you also have your business to run and it can be time consuming but try to separate your list out so you find ways to stay in touch with the most important people who can have a significant impact on your company.

Re: Promote the Forum using Modeling the Masters Re: Promote the Forum using Modeling the Masters - Hi Michelle, I look forward to seeing you on IMF which I signed up to thanks to GT who has become something of a driving force there and as usual is very supportive and enthusiastic about what he does. I think IMF is a very exciting development and it will only get better as more members with experience like yourself come on board, regards, Mal.
