Butterflies First Live in Cocoons
Sometimes we find ourselves hard pressed to find evidence of progress in life, in our careers or in our business.
At one time or another on your own path to a goal or dream, you have met up with a plateau. Perhaps you are experiencing one now. Looking around, the scenery is flat or bare, and not much is changing. Despite your efforts and best intentions, you find that no amount of pushing, striving, or working hard brings swift results. In fact,
pushing for results seems to impede them or chase them away.
Think about what it might be like to walk down a path in the woods or in an open field; you might pass by a cocoon without noticing it. It does not strike you as colorful, dynamic or changing. Yet, underneath the surface, even when appearances are deceiving, something BIG is happening and transforming. And in the right time, a marvelous, beautiful butterfly appears, seemingly from nowhere.
We all reach occasional plateaus. Oftentimes this is NOT a sign of stagnation. This is not a sign to quit or give up on a goal or dream. And this is not failure, although is may be interpreted that way by you, the anxious achiever.
Are you tired of chasing after something and not feeling like you are getting anywhere?
Perhaps it would help if you let go and let the natural cycle of things take place for a while in your life. Let things unfold. This does not mean you forget about your dreams or give up focusing on them altogether. Just, don't worry so much. Trust that many things are growing and being created in your life even when you dont see evidence of this on the surface. Trust that the changes in your life will be seen when
it is time and when in the right season.
Coaching Challenge:
Maintain your sense of clarity and purpose around your dreams and objectives
Create an environment in your life so change CAN happen
Allow for an incubation period. Just Breathe and let transformation happen rather than force it
Continue to take steady, consistent and paced action toward you goals (rather than fast and furious) and allow time to take care of the rest
"Plateaus are a good sign. They suggest you are ready to take yourself to another level, and are here to catch your breath a while, before you really take off upward." - Christen Murphy
