Life Doesnt Move in a Straight Line

Have you ever felt confused by where you have 'ended up' at this point in your life? Perhaps to some degree you are experiencing this now and have found yourself in a totally different place from where you thought you would be. How did this happen when at one time, you had firmly set your sights on a specific goal only to have gotten off course somewhere along the way?

How could you have missed the signposts directing you to where you were supposed to be? You were so SURE that you were heading in a straight line!

I am a believer in having goals and shooting straight for them. And yet, the path can deviate even when a person takes such an approach. I also believe there is room for divergence in your life, that you can get off the path of the straight and narrow, and actually benefit greatly from the experience.

So again, what happened that you have found yourself in a different place than expected?

My best guess at an answer is this:

Maybe your life was meant to diverge. Maybe the path was supposed to wind and turn in unexpected places. And maybe the detours will help you gather the things you need to ultimately reach your goals. Perhaps you are still meant to be surprised by even better things than you could have imagined for yourself, and to have different alternatives presented to you to assist you along the way. Or, perhaps you have thrown up your own roadblocks and have yet to realize you are the only one who can remove them. Maybe you are STILL supposed to have a blindfold on so you that you can learn the value of trust, and therefore only see the very next step along the way instead of catching a glimpse of the entire path.

Life doesn't move in a straight line despite our planning and best intentions. It is impossible to live life in a totally linear way. Even if we could do that, the whole journey would become uninteresting, and we certainly wouldn't learn very much.

So, the Path Hasn't Taken You to the Places You Thought It Would?

Maybe there are still things you need to learn and experiences you need to have to enrich your life. Perhaps you need to be delayed a while so you can really think about where you truly WANT to go. Or, you have been held up so you can develop competence, patience, fortitude and skill. These are all valuable tools to gather along the way.

What if all of this winding and diverging is all meant to work FOR you, not against? To teach you, and to help you grow, ultimately bringing you full circle to arrive at your goals but with greater wisdom and maturity than if you would have briefly enjoyed the instant gratification approach. And with this wisdom, you will have what is needed inside of yourself to hold on to your goals once you actually DO reach them.

New Doors Open all of the Time

If you don't like your circumstances, relax. Don't put a lot of worry into where you have 'ended up'. The place you have found yourself is not the place you will remain permanently. Your life will begin to change as you focus on making changes. Your life is still a work in process as long as you are living it. Just take yourself back to the path and keep to the business of going forward. New doors will be opening for you all of the time.

We all have goals, and we all are heading in the direction we think we should be heading in. The trouble is, when we set off in a certain direction, we sometimes put our heads down for too long. We continue thinking the end of the hall is the only place we should be aiming for, instead of realizing the door of opportunity could be the very next door that opens along the way. These side doors could truly be the right doors for you. The opportunities that present themselves could be BETTER than the ones you set for yourself, leading you to better places, beyond your wildest dreams and expectations, bringing you the essence of exactly what you wanted but coming around to you in a different way.

The Second Life Platform The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth - [quote="Tami Szabo":292ze3jd]People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.
