One to One Time - Your Employees Need You!

One to one time may seem an inefficient use of time - after all, if you can spent group time, you can touch far more people. Right?

Well, of course that's right.

There comes a time when one to one time is much more valuable.

With groups, the time you spend is spread thinly and the time you have to form strong relationships is minimal (though not impossible, even in that sort of setting - maybe I can return to that sometime soon!).

One to one time honours the person you generously give your time to. It gives them the space to get used to you and get more comfortable with being upfront and honest.

They can provide the feedback you need to move forward.

They can talk to you, rather than be talked at.

Of course this means that you have to stimulate the conversation genuinely with those great 'open' question words.

Asking the 'What', 'How', 'When', 'Where', 'Who' and 'Why' questions get people talking.

Your listening, gives them the space to share what's on their mind and more.

It helps them dig deep and share what they are feeling - more, what they need from you to do a great job.

One to one time enables that.

Giving of your time, in this way, truly reaps reward for the investment you make.

CEOs and Email - Slaves? CEOs and Email - Slaves? - I wonder if the emails they are responding to are filtered thru their assistants first 'cos they seem to spend a lot of their off hours responding to them. True they are successful but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay that price. I'd be interested to know what's the in the typical day planner of Entrepreneurs on the Forum. Entrepreneurs are a different breed than Paid Employees- so it would be interesting to view the contrast.
Books that should be written Books that should be written - [quote:1m0dcpd7]"The Idiots Guide To Sticking With One Thing At A Time and Not Doing Something New All The Time" [/quote:1m0dcpd7] I myself am a 'constructive' procrastinator... I don't know if I'm alone in this. I have about six or seven projects I'm working on at any given time. I get one project almost done... then my interest is piqued by another project and I work on that... I get burnt out and move to another...I know I do this so I have it arranged such that once I get bored or burnt out with one project, I can step right back into project 1 - or 2 or 3, and get that a little bit more done before moving on to something else. As long as you're organized and know where all your reference material/idea sheets are when you're ready to get back to work on each project, it should be fine. I also find that by stepping away from a project - I still work on it in the recesses of my mind so that when I go back to it - it's with some good ideas that I wouldn't have had if I'd continued on with it originally. Maybe I should write a book on how to Procrastinate Constructively... I've actually thought about doing that...because most people procrastinate, don't they...and very few are ever able to stop.
