Dress for Success: Even Working from home Requires a Dress Code

I’m sure you’ve seen the commercial – and I’ve referenced it before. The woman gets up, exercises, takes care of her daughter and then conducts business in pajama bottoms and slippers with her baby nearby. I wish that this was reality but, for the most part, it just isn’t.

Even if you are working from home full time you should follow some sort of dress code. Thankfully, this doesn’t need to mean putting on a suit every day, or anything that requires dry cleaning, for that matter. But you really should get dressed.

Have you ever heard the rule that putting a smile on your face will put a smile in your voice? Well, keeping pajamas on your body can put drowsiness in your voice.

Whether you work from home with a flexible schedule or with specific hours it is important to get into a basic routine. Get up at about the same time each morning. If you want to begin your day with a little work, that’s fine. But then get in the shower. You will feel refreshed and more awake. You can save money on coffee!

When you get dressed you can certainly stay comfy but try to stay away from “lounging” clothes like sweats or pajamas. This is especially important if you will be talking on the phone with people. It might sound funny, but you will sound perkier if you are dressed! And if you feel perkier, you will also be more productive.

Re: Good news for women Re: Good news for women - She probably is at the point I got to and needs to get a job or get away from the kids a while during the day and do something really productive. When I stayed home I got to the point that I felt useless. Not that I really was. I was very useful to my child at the time, but I needed adult interaction and to feel like I was making a contribution to the household. Working again we the answer to my prayer. I could not have stayed home another year and my psyche not been damaged. She can probably find lots of good ideas of how she can start a business of her own right here on this forum. Otherwise, sometimes working for someone else is better for some people. Different strokes for different folks.
Re: What is Your Favorite Thing About Owning A Business? Re: What is Your Favorite Thing About Owning A Business? - [quote="freddyb45":1t3lpfi8]For me it's the fact that all the time and effort you put in is worth a lot more, due to it making you "business" more profitable. Working for yourself is also a positive, although employing people you can trust is quite different.[/quote:1t3lpfi8] I like this idea. Working for yourself means you are investing in your own future, not someone else's, although there is value in working for someone else first to gain experience and confidence. Working for yourself does not automatically mean success, fame and fortune. For most entrepreneurs, it takes much work and dedication to get to the point of financial success and comfort - sometimes years. But the benefit is, again, you know you are investing in yourself and building equity for your own future. GT :-]
Google landing page tips Google landing page tips - Google AdSense expert, Joel Comm says "Edit the landing page, and you can tell the advertisers what they should write to get the most clicks with an ad on your site. You can even include your email address and contact information and invite them to contact you directly" ("The AdSense Code" 65 & 66). This way, advertisers will know to contact you via email if they can't find an option they like. In "The AdSense Code", Comm also suggests the following landing page tips (67 & 68 ): • Make your page look like it's a part of your site by adding a logo and using the same color scheme • Define what your website does • Outline the demographic and lifestyle information of your target market • Provide a list of the content and keywords that are likely to attract the most clicks and conversions • Explain to advertisers that a targeted campaign is likely to yield the best results for them
