Guest post by: Terri Levine

Article Overview: We sabotage our healthy eating plans and diet goals when we snack and nibble at all times and on the wrong foods. Identifying what triggers us to want to eat at the wrong time helps us avoid falling into this trap.

Identify Your Eating Triggers

EATING TRIGGERS We eat because we are triggered to eat. The triggers are either purely physical/sustenance (true hunger) and/or emotional. So, there are 2 hungers we deal with - one healthy, one not so.

Learn to identify and notice sooner what triggers you to eat so that you can make the underlying changes necessary to reduce them rather than trying to control your eating habits AFTER you've been triggered (what a waste of willpower!)

This is an intelligent approach because it makes you smarter about yourself, your environment and your life and helps you keep your weight in check in a safer manner.

Don't think you eat for the wrong reasons? Check the list below. If any of these trigger you to want to eat, you need to rethink your eating habits:

Eating Triggers: Stressful situations

Relationship stresses

Inadequate boundaries

Money problems

Boredom

Caffeine

Over-promising/performance anxiety

Low standards

Waiting to eat until you are really hungry

Because "I deserve it."

Tiredness Disappointment The smell of food being cooked Alcohol Television watching

Sugar

Soda pop

Certain drugs

Family/social "dinners"/food-oriented situations

Adrenaline

Cultural expectations

Going out to eat

When you're not telling the truth

Simply out of habit

When you are with certain people

Loneliness

Traditional holiday events

Seeing food

Nothing better to do in the evenings

Certain times of day but not regular meal times

Walking in the kitchen

Unhappiness in a relationship

Grocery shopping

Eating fat creates a desire for more fat

Avoid fad diets and learn to eat sensibly. Eating smaller meals/snacks more regularly throughout the day (6 times per day) rather than 3 large meals and the wrong type of snacks in between, is better for you because it keeps your metabolism firing, you feel full and don't need to eat rubbish, and you will lose weight naturally.

Re: How does an entrepreneur stay energized? Re: How does an entrepreneur stay energized? - Hi there, This subject is not only for entrepreneurs. Everybody can benefit from this, that is the reason why 'Healthy Living and Eating' is a multi billion Dollar business. Often I smile, because so much is written about it. So many different business are blooming and doing well. Whilst there is so much knowledge and opportunity to be healthy and well, the need is still growing. There is so much that could be said. The cheapest form of energy is gained by a good sleep.
Starting a New Business Starting a New Business - I think magonaga identified one of the most important ingredients for starting a new business in its simplest terms...."Sheer bloody tenacious determination". The only thing that I would add to this is the need for a plan. There are many methodologies for planning, but I believe that the most effective is also the simplest.
Step back from the excitement and anxiety, close your eyes and visualize your goal Identify all of the ingredients (e.g. office/store, legal paperwork, contracts, products) that you need to make your vision a reality Identify all of the ingredients that you need to get the previous ingredients (equipment, training, partnerships, mentors, marketing materials) Prioritize all of the ingredients Sketch out a timeline for how all of these ingredients come together to achieve your goal Execute the timeline...with a liberal dose of magonaga's advice
When all is said and done in the realm of planning, take heed of Dwight D. Eisenhower's advice "Plans are nothing. Planning is everything". Even though your timeline may not go as planned, the fact that you devoted the time towards planning will help you understand the impacts of changes to your plan and react more effectively to unforeseen events. May God bless you in your endeavors!
Re: Twiiter an sales Re: Twiiter an sales - Lots of different ways soldlab. I would start with: 1) Identify your ideal accounts and see if they're on Twitter. Get to know them and what they're interested in. Reply to their tweets and get on their radar screens. Before long they'll be checking out your profile and will be curious as to what you're selling. 2) Follow key words that relate to your industry. Find people who have a problem that you can solve and offer to help. Get involved in the discussion around your industry and be seen as an expert. Good luck!
Re: Kevin's Case Study #7 - How do you promote your new book? Re: Kevin's Case Study #7 - How do you promote your new book? - Hey! Shri you Rock! The only thing I would add is something I have personally found to be very profitable, and that is centres of influence. Identify people who are selling/promoting into the same target market as you and get them to recommend you. I've also done a lot of list building and promotion leading up the release of the book. In fact, I had sold 100 copies before it was even finished. I highly recommend Shri's book too! Great resource. Jude
