Follow the 5 key steps that successful career changers actually take to overcome their fears and make a sustainable change.

1. Plug the Leaks
While you may be focused on the fact that this is a career transition, you are made up of more than just your job. Identify and commit to eliminating those things that are draining you of energy. Deal with them now in order to have a surplus of energy to make your career change.

2. Know What You Want and Make the Decision to Have It
We spend a great deal of time focusing on what we don't like about our jobs and often let transitions happen to us. Being passive about a career transition makes for a painful passage. Stop and identify what you would like instead. Be proactive and make the decision, internally, that this is what you want and that you will not let anything stop you.

3. Believe in What You Want
Belief corresponds to how you feel about what you want. Examine what you are telling yourself about your desire for a new job. Make a decision to change your belief so that your career change is not a matter of "if" or "how" but only "when".

4. Make it a Transition, Not a Leap
Keep your day job and try out your calling on the side. Not being able to pay the bills is a stress you can choose to not put yourself through. Go through a process of repeated planning and testing, planning and testing. See what you learn and decide what your next steps should be. Remember, it's a transition. Slow and steady will get you to the finish line. Think marathon, not sprint.

5. Live As If
Your future career is created by being in the present and showing up each day as if what you want has already come to pass. Ask yourself, "If I was already working in my dream job, how would I act today?" Then make the shift and go act as if you've already made it!

I have word set to alert me about misspellings and grammatical problems, so I fix most as I go. But I also add names etc to the dictionary because I get tired of seeing the red and green squiggles when I know the info is right. If you're only going to click "Change" or "Ignore" then why bother to take the time to use spell check????? Business people that I work for want the info compiled in a timely manner and they want it right - which is fine because that's the way I strive to do any project. Sending out a memo, letter, report etc with obvious spelling and grammatical mistakes makes the person and the company look bad as far as I'm concerned. Shri
Re: e-Commerce and e-Payment providers - Hi GT It is only fairly recently that people in South Africa have been able to get full use of Paypal as we were only able at one time to make payments but not receive them. Fortunately this has now changed. I have received money through Global X Change for one of the affiliate programs that I promote and have found them pretty good as the money is normally transferred directly into my bank account within 2-3 days and I have not had any problems with them. Managing the Paperwork - Greetings All, As we all know, when an Entrepreneur starts his/her business, there is a ton of paperwork to deal with. Who wants that? All we want to do is do our work and make money while solving people's problems with our brilliance! The purpose of this thread is to find out what everyone has done to manage their paperwork/bills. I, for one, am horrible at managing such things. I still have quite a number of receipts that have to be inputted into QuickBooks Pro from last year! I'm a techie and can fix pretty much any PC issues or develop some awesome online marketing ideas for businesses....but please, dont' ask me to figure out how QBPro calculates taxes and why the GST has to be separated in the setup and inputting in the Enter Bills area. To me, this is confusing (and you too after re-reading that paragraph....) So, in the past I tried a high-school Co-Op student. This was a brilliant way to get someone who knows QuickBooks and did not cost me any money. The downside, rules stated that I could not leave him alone. So if I went out on a call, so did he. He brought paperwork to do stuff while we were out so it wasn't too bad. The other downside, he didn't truly want to be an accountant as he was late at _least_ once a week as well as absent at least one day a week (keeping in mind he was only with me 4 days a week). A pure example of someone being forced to follow a parent's footsteps. So, that little experiment went well. I did get some great work from him when he was there. I still used a regular accountant to do my taxes and they talked back and forth easily to make sure my stuff was inline. I would consider doing this again. Currently, I am looking at hiring someone for a couple of hours a week. My schedule is not at all static. I could be in Algonquin Park one day and Sarnia the next. So, having someone work once a week is a much better solution for my scenario. Has anyone done anything different? If so, what has and has not worked for you so far?

Are you an Opportunity Addict? - 1) if you find yourself saying yes without thinking about how it will affect your other priorities 2) you have over 10 projects/inventions going on at the same time and this seems normal to you 3) you have spent hundreds and thousands of dollars on manufacturing, prototypes, etc. not to mention thousands of hours of your time....but you havent followed through on any of it 4) most of your projects are falling behind or have completely fallen off your radar....which is fueling your frustration The first step in recovery is to recognize this as a pattern of self sabotage. If you are clear in what your overall goals and objectives are, you should be able to create a lens through which you measure opportunities. You create your life, and your to do list. Change, Add, Remove, Adjust time-lines - whatever you like. But remember that every piece of unfinished business - stays that way J
