5 Tips To Accelerate Your Small Business Through Email Marketing

Email marketing is one of today's fastest marketing mediums, and can be an inexpensive way to market your business if done correctly. The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) did an assessment on the email marketing industry and found out that its potential return on investment (ROI) can be almost around $60 USD per $1 USD spent. Of course, this is just POTENTIALLY what it might be (for larger businesses anyway), but we think you already get the picture on how it can be very important even to small businesses. Pulling it off with competition everywhere can get a little tough. So, here are five simple starting tips to help you along the way: Guard for spam

Most e-mail services today offer spam filters. This means your emails are now at a risk of being thrown over before you have even started gaining sales or even leads. Guard for spam filters, and make sure that your email is safe from being caught. A simple way to do this is by using confirmation emails to protect you from spam bots.

Timing is gold

Knowing exactly the right time to send those emails could mean success or failure for your email marketing campaign. Timing can mean different things for your email marketing. The frequency of the email itself is one thing. It can be quite annoying if they have to put up with your email at very short time intervals; about once per week, however, generally works well. It could also mean presenting your business or services at the exact time that they would be needed.

Use relevance to pique their interest

Make the email look very important to your target market. Design the email to look like it was specifically sent for the receiver. Act like a sniper, and shoot only those that have the highest chance of accepting your services. Remember, you're not a multinational corporation; your niche is far smaller so you must adapt by utilizing the uniqueness of the field to the proper audience. Besides, non-relevant messages would almost instantly be dunked in the trash bin like it was spam mail anyway.

Breathe life into your email

Create your email in a way that it seems to talk to the people receiving it. Personalizing your email adds a human touch to the message being conveyed, improving the chances of receiving new email addresses. You can use personal stories that empathize with their current problems, and then slowly introduce your business to them as a bright solution. Remember, sincerity can draw deep attention, so it's important that you don't sound like the typical salesperson.

Include email incentives

Finally, connect your emails with the real world. Think up of some innovative gimmick, a promotion or event of some sort that would enable them to enjoy extra services when they purchase your products or ask for your business' services. For example, they could have a month of premium subscription, granting them access to a special part of your website when they have accumulated enough points for a promo.

These tips are not designed to guarantee you 100% success rate in email marketing. However, these are essential pointers that you should basically do if you want to at least stay at a competitive level with your small business.
