We live in a rapidly changing world and individuals, businesses and other organizations are struggling to adapt to and keep up with that rapid change. And I believe it is fair to say that the attempts to adapt to change are not working or not working very well in many cases. Why is that? The major reason is resistance to adapting to change that basically lies within individuals. So, if this is the case, what can be done? How can we convert the energy being used in resisting and convert that energy to grab the opportunities that lie within change?

One major response to the question of converting that energy is how we look at change. What is our attitude toward change? As a change agent I welcome change and as a strategic thinking business coach I work with clients to focus on finding and embracing the opportunities that come with change, rather than looking at change as a threat. So, if you have resistance to change, what can a strategic thinking business coach advise you to do? Here are eleven (11) coaching tips to help you deal with resistance to change.

1. Initiate change and anticipate resistance. Take a proactive approach to change and enlist the help of a strategic thinking business coach.
2. Communicate the rationale for change.
3. Develop a clear vision for the future with the changes.
4. Involve people to help gain their support of change.
5. Promise and promote honesty in letting people know what’s coming and what’s changing.
6. Acknowledge and beware of the “establishment,” the “system,” and the bureaucrats resistance to change.
7. Demonstrate your personal commitment to change.
8. Identify resistance to change and promote an atmosphere of openness and safety.
9. Ensure that people are provided the knowledge, skills, and the tools to deal with change.
10. Monitor and measure performance to identify and recognize top performers during the change.
11. Be a leader that demonstrates by word and deed a positive reaction to change. And be very visible in that leadership.

Business Coaching Internship Review Business Coaching Internship Review - I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto. RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data. Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds! Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well. The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though. It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take. The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
