Recently, I was interviewed by a business publication about business lunches and I added business breakfasts to the interview. The focus was on doing business at a business lunch or breakfast and tips about doing so. This article caused me to think about strategic business entertaining and what would be the appropriate venues for such entertaining.

Business entertaining is expensive and time-consuming and warrants being very strategic and goal oriented beyond what the goals are for business breakfasts and lunches. It is good to know that one of the main purposes of the business entertaining is to make people feel good and to have a good time. It is critical to consider whether the event will emphasize and underline your business mission in a subtle professional way and if your guests will have an enjoyable time and come away with a better understanding of your company, its goals and its core values.

Your strategic thinking business coach has some suggestions for different types of events that might fulfill your strategic business entertaining goals.

+ specially arranged lunch at a fine restaurant, where you have a relationship with the restaurant owner

+ dinner with spouses or dates at a fine restaurant, where you have a relationship with the restaurant owner

+ an invitation to join your company table at a prestigious charity fundraising dinner

+ an invitation to play tennis at a club, followed by a light lunch

+ an invitation to a game of golf at a club, followed by a light lunch

+ tickets to a major sporting event that you know he or she would enjoy

+ tickets to an arts performance that you know he or she would enjoy

+ specially arranged private tour, behind the scenes, backstage, or some other normally not accessible to general public at a location where you know he or she has been wanting to visit
