Ten Strategic Actions To Change Your Marketing Mindset, From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach

Many small business people struggle with marketing their business services and products. This is particularly true with entrepreneurial business owners. They engage in traditional marketing endeavors and they simply do not work. They feel bound and captive to the traditional marketing ways. Well, Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach wants you to know that there are actions you can take to get away from the “traditional marketing rut” and the “status quo” or the “me too” type marketing efforts. So, if you are interested in “breaking those chains” of traditional marketing and moving beyond the “status quo” and the “me too” attitudes of marketing, then read and implement the ten (10) strategic actions below, from Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach.

Strategic Action #1: Define a clearly focused vision for your business and put it in writing.

Strategic Action #2: Develop a set of goals and objectives and document them in a strategic action plan.

Strategic Action #3: Commit to developing a strategic marketing focus on educating the client and customer and to how you can help the client and customer first, before doing any “selling.”

Strategic Action #4: Develop benchmarks and a means to track and measure the effectiveness of all aspects of your marketing efforts.

Strategic Action #5: Enlist the assistance and guidance of a business coach or other outside adviser that you can trust to provide solid, independent and valuable counsel.

Strategic Action #6: Develop your marketing efforts towards building an understanding of the “value” you bring to the clients and customers through your services and products.

Strategic Action #7: Commit to a continuous improvement attitude with your marketing efforts and marketing materials. Ensure all your marketing endeavors are focused on helping your clients and customers find solutions and to bringing “value” to them with your business services and products.

Strategic Action #8: Commit to building relationships with your prospective and existing clients and customers in order to achieve “lifelong” clients and customers.

Strategic Action #9: Develop a strategic time management attitude so you can delegate defined tasks to others and use your time more strategically.

Strategic Action #10: Commit to testing different methods of “closing” your prospects.

Your strategic thinking business coach encourages you to fully realize the benefits of business coaching to move away from the “traditional thinking” in many areas of your business and to strategically lead and manage change in your business. Strategy People Strategy People - Greetings all! Recently I have come to the understanding that I am severely lacking strategy. I have many, many tactics on how to make money with my business but without a strategy to implement those tactics I'm spinning my wheels. Has anyone found someone who is a great strategist for their business? There are lots of 'readable' resources around but like more entrepreneurs, I'm too busy thinking of ways to make money for my business rather than learning strategy. So, for me the best thing is to find someone who can help guide my business in strategic planning. Someone who can supplement my strengths with their own. As an extra question, is this a common trait amung entrepreneurs? How many here are good at strategy? If you learned to be good, how did you learn?
Forming strategic alliances Forming strategic alliances - Thanks for the info LeoOliveros - I'm not looking for an actual business partner to own a part of my company. Instead I'm looking for ideas on how to form strategic alliances with companies who can support me and I can support them. Does anybody have any suggestions / experiences?
Re: Kevin's Case Study #6 - Marketing an information resource? Re: Kevin's Case Study #6 - Marketing an information resource? - Hey. have you done any surveying etc. to find out if the franchisors WANT and NEED the type of information you are looking to provide? What do you mean by saying you dont have what it takes to compete? Perhaps you arent thinking Blue Ocean Strategy enough? it means instead of competing, differentiate (which is what you want to do I get that), but how will the new revenue model work? would a company then have to list on both a lead gen site and your site?? would they do this? I would suggest a coffee with some of your clients and get their feedback on your ideas. Or perhaps finding a strategic alliance with one of the bigger lead gen firms? J
