4 Travel tips for Business Owners-stop worrying!

In my business I travel a great deal. Sometimes it's to a conference, or to meet a new prospect, or to work with a new coach. One of the most challenging aspects of going on a trip is convincing yourself that when you leave your business - it's going to be fine without you.

You don't have to completely cut yourself off. Here are some tips that might help you stay in touch, but focus on why you're on your trip in the first place.

1. Put someone you trust in charge of your business when you leave. If you are going to be gone for a week or less, have them send you an update at the end of the day -JUST ONE! and ONLY reply to the update if it requires your input.

2. If you don't have anyone in charge of your business ( if you are self-employed and it's just you), contact all of your clients at least ONE week before you leave to let them know that you will either be unreachable, or will have limited hours. Remind them again the day before you leave.

3. Set up your phone every five minutes. Turn off the volume so that you aren't distracted by your phone. Set a time that you CAN answer any action items and ONLY do it at that set time.

4. Trust, trust, trust the people who work in your business and your clients to be able to manage on their own for a little while. If you've set up some good systems then you should be able to relax a little.

Travel is part of business. Don't wait until the last-minute before you go anywhere. Work on your business now and reap the rewards of being connected and focus at the same time.

Re: Looking for business partners in travel and telecom areas Re: Looking for business partners in travel and telecom areas - Michael, In order to help I would need more detail. Travel and Telecom are pretty broad categories. I develop and design websites and I could help but not without a lot more information on what niche's your targeting. For example are you trying to just target people in and around Chicago or the whole United States.
Re: Defining ones self! Re: Defining ones self! - Welcome Howard! In all honesty, from the most successful entrepreneurs that I've met and profiled, most of them don't care about their titles - it's more about building a and a high quality team than it is worrying about what to call yourself. Just some food for thought.
