Manners and Behavior to Accompany Your Professional Presentation

Common courtesies are not so common anymore. Manners seem to be going out of style. Rudeness has escalated and newspaper reports blame this trend on the pressures on our uncertain economy, lack of training in the home and in schools and people being self-centered and aggressive in their quest for security.

Rudeness is endemic around the world today in our casual, dress down society. Our casual society has brought new freedoms of dress, speech and social and business casualness. It is to your advantage to learn how to deal with people in a gracious and tactful manner in the office, in the home, in social situations and in relationships. Some men know and practice the art of being a gentleman. They open the car door, pay a sincere compliment, say please and thank you and are simply charming and well dressed. Some women are also gracious, well-dress and well-spoken.

Here are fifteen essential tips to set your self up for greater success.

Five Tips on Business Etiquette, Dining and Social Graces

Women: do not touch up your makeup or apply lipstick at the table.

Never sneeze or blow your nose at the table.

Never season your food at the table until after you have tasted.

Always say please and thank you and u se direct eye contact.

Introduce yourself when meeting new people. Say your name slowly so people will remember. If you have forgotten someone's name, just ask.

Five Tips for Women

Purchase timeless, traditional clothing and update your accessories for a great wardrobe.

Select one color dressing for a taller, leaner look.

Calculate the cost per wearing and spend the largest dollar amounts on the items you will wear most frequently.

Don't put your handbag or keys on the table when dining. An exception to this might be a very small evening bag.

Get fashion advise from someone you trust. Sales clerks are there to sell you the latest and greatest and may not truly know what looks best on

you and what clothing works for your lifestyle.

Five Tips for Men

Purchase your ties for each suit when you purchase the suit

The correct tie length is to the bottom of the b uckle on your belt.

The widest part of the tie should be the same as the widest part of the lapel on the suit.

A white shirt always has the highest level of dressing authority, then a blue shirt, striped shirts and then other colors.

If you are going to wear a T-shirt underneath your dress shirt, select a V-neck style.

It is always better to be overdressed than underdressed for any function or event.

Re: Poll: Video Marketing Online, Do you use it? Re: Poll: Video Marketing Online, Do you use it? - Hi GT, One of my goals for this year is to start using video over the summer. I checked the "actively researching" box as I have been looking into it in the last six months with that in mind. I have practical experience with making videos as that is what I do with my "English Presentation" students at college in their second term. Earlier this year, I used iMovie on my Mac OSX to make a DVD stringing together edited versions of the students' presentations, so I'm OK with the technical side... It's the production side that is more of a challenge at the moment!
Re: Exotic Tea Shop Website for Review Re: Exotic Tea Shop Website for Review - From a design aspect the site is poor and does not give a coherent impression that would entise me to purchase. But I am likely to say that as I am a visually lead person being a graphic and web designer. A good percentage of web design testing has suggested this basic home made site look does work for a particular demographic, whether that demographic matches people who are likely to spend on luxury tea's or not is doubtful. If you are going to stick with the template design I would certainly change the background possibly to a brown plan image that suggest Chinese may be a bamboo matt with Chinese tea cups and tea pot with a sprig of green to bring it to life (not to dominating, maybe muted). Accompany this with a matching header and you will change the entire feel. I would also use the front page to concentrate on products 80% and business info 20%. The history articles etc can go in the modules column on the left. This website needs to sell a designer tea experience that opens the visitor to a round the world experience that reflects the products. best of luck regards Gavin
