Recession Proof Yourself

The media hype on the housing market and the job market has put fear in to the hearts of many
people throughout the world. I would like to offer a different perspective for recession proofing
yourself personally and professionally!

Avoid Emotional Vampires: You know, it's the people that drain you dry with gloom and doom. They rear their ugly heads with passive aggressive, obsessive-compulsive, perfectionism, all flash-
no cash and narcissist-paranoid behavior.

Too Much Information: We are globally connected and can easily be swamped with bad news with media overload. If you are reading/watching the news every morning and every evening, you are going to bed with negative energy and waking up with negative energy. This is a major emotional drain on you and people that you come in to contact with.

Traveling at the Speed of Light: Take some time to slow down and appreciate your family members,
friends and pets. Have a cup of tea and count your blessings. Focus on health and well-being. Take on the "attitude of gratitude." Speak with kindness and understanding of others that may be challenged in ways you do not understand or know about.

Appreciate the Differences: The best hotels or camping under the stars in a tent? Both scenarios
have merit and create magic and peace. It's all in your perception.

Praise and Appreciation: Pay someone a sincere compliment. "One of the things I like best about
you is _______________." When you look me in the eyes, I know that ___________________."
"You have such a gift for _________________." "I value and appreciate you ________________."

Go the Extra Mile: Make sure you employer sees you in a positive light. Add to your value with a
positive attitude, become a team player and give more to your job than is expected. Imagine if you were the
boss and saw your employees taking long lunch and coffee breaks. If you are not adding value, you
are decreasing the profits of the company and putting your job at risk.

Dress Well: Clothing covers about 90% of the body in most business situations. Dress well, crisp, clean, neat and tidy. Forget about what is "in fashion" and look like you are going to work. Add the perception of a serious commitment to excellence in all you do and say.

Speak with Eloquence: Be articulate. Use words with two, three or four syllables. Showcase your education and your passion for excellence. Don't dumb down to others!

Body Language: Transform yourself with powerful, positive body language and posturing. Every movement and gesture should showcase you at your personal and professional best.

Position Yourself as the Expert of Choice: Turbo charge yourself. Become desirable, respected and visible!

Trademarks Trademarks - I have to agree with Barbara. It sounds like you need to at least talk with a good attorney. Proof that you mailed the letter would be helpful. I've learned over the years to keep after people until I get a response. Its very possible that your letter never got to the people who needed to see it and that would make it impossible to get a valid response. Companies are real touchy about their logos, but they did spend a lot of money to develop the design and to develop their brand recognition. I have a logo for my company that my partner designed and five companies in the area have copied it almost exactly. It causes confusion in the area because people see their signs and their truck and think its me, unfortunately and I'm only dealing with that to a small degree. Chris
Books for Women Entrepreneurs Books for Women Entrepreneurs - There's a thread for good books in the Resources folder, but it doesn't target books for businesswomen particularly, so I figured I'd start such a thread here.
