The Building Blocks of a Business Wardrobe

Color, Quality, Style and Cost Per Unit

Colors: darker colors have more power and authority than lighter colors.

The best business colors are navy, grey and black.

The poorest choices for business colors are yellow, peach, pink.

Quality: purchase fewer items of higher quality.

Style: avoid being a slave to fashion and select garments that are appropriate and look good on you.

Cost Per Unit: consider the number of times and number of years that you will be wearing a garment to see your true value of what you are spending or investing in your wardrobe. The only time it hurts to buy good quality is when you write the check.

Men’s Clothing Profiles:

Dramatic: a man of design, style, detail and sharp contrasts, a bold, elegant, dramatic statement.
Classic: a timeless look of perfection, looking appropriate for every occasion.
Romantic: gracious and suave, a man who looks best in a rich, luxurious, well-blended look.
Natural: sturdy or athletic build, a man who calls for textures, tweeds, informality and blended looks.

Women’s Clothing Profiles:

Dramatic: bold, flamboyant and attention getting.
Classic: a timeless look of perfection, everything coordinated and appropriate.
Town and Country: sporty, natural and eclectic.
Romantic: soft, feminine look using flowing, touchable fabrics.
Euro-chic: a modern, classic and upscale chic look.
