Intention: Is Your Life Magical?

At the beginning of the New Year we are bombarded with the concept of making resolutions and goal setting to try and make the things happen that we have decided we want.

Have you had great success with resolutions? No; me either. When ever I set resolutions they were always about stopping doing something or starting to do something I thought I should do. These resolutions did not come from my heart nor were they connected with something bigger that I wanted for my life. Goal setting can be equally as unsuccessful if the goals are coming from our ego deciding that we should achieve something because it is what everyone else is doing. When goals are set to be stepping stones supporting the larger vision or intention we have for our life then success is much more likely.

What is the difference between Vision and Intention? Intention is the experience that we want to be having in life and how we want to feel. We could be having this experience and these feelings doing many different things. There are several different visions that might give us the feelings and experience we want. When we establish a vision, it is the picture or pictures that we create in our mind of what we would like to be doing or what we would like to have. My own experience is my intention has held very constant and my vision required updates and refinements as new experiences and possibilities presented themselves. In fact I am doing things today that I never imagined possible five years ago.

In the November 2009 newsletter I shared my vision and intention for my business.

I am an internationally acclaimed author, coach and trainer. I collaborate with fantastic business partners with ease and enthusiasm, inspiring and being inspired. My business allows me to travel, write, speak and deliver training events all around the world. With fun and excitement I work and play golf all at the same time.

My work allows me to live a magical life experiencing the full majesty of the ocean and Mother Nature.

Want to know how it all worked out? Watch my New Years Video from Belize.

I reviewed ten years of journals this year and noticed that I am living all of my intentions. Over the years I have updated my intentions as I began to consistently experience the current intention that I had set for myself. As for my life vision, the reality of it looks nothing like the vision I had set, however the essence of some of the visions have come to reality. The reality of what I am living is different than what my mind made up originally, but the experience that I am having is magical and is better than what I imagined.

Check the November 2009 newsletter for how to set an intention.

Wishing you magic in 2011.

The Second Life Platform The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

So are you currently a member? And more importantly, have you tried to open a store front in that virtual world?
Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth -
People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.
Re: Favorite Christmas movies Re: Favorite Christmas movies -
I do have to say I've never liked[i:1rxsgr0t] It's A Wonderful Life[/i:1rxsgr0t]. He spends all his life having his hopes and dreams shattered, feeling miserable, and its only at the end of his life that he can look back and realize how many friends he has, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that up until that point he was miserable![/quote:1rxsgr0t] I love the sentimentality around watching that movie with your Mom! Chtistmas is made up of all those sentimental things. "It's A Wonderful Life" is all about perspective, much in the same way that Scrooge is 'realigned' in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" - which I listen to on CD every year (sometimes twice!) Happy Christmas Everyone! Regards Martin
