Are You Open to the Message

Change your perspective, change your life. See the world through rose-colored glasses.

We are always looking through filters.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What you focus on is what you get.

If you've done any personal growth work or listened to motivational speakers, you've heard many versions of the statements above. In fact, if you want to continually improve your life experience, there is power in looking at how you perceive the experiences and people around you.

Because you and I both have perceptions about how our mates, kids, work, money, body and other people should be, we miss many messages from our internal guidance systems.

Sometimes your guidance tells you to focus on a particular project, but your mental mind overrides that message. You instead work on the project that you feel you're "supposed" to be working on. Or you may get a nudge to pick up the phone and dial a friend, but you tell yourself you'll do it later.

Your body may ask you for food one hour after you ate lunch. Do you listen or blow it off?

You feel like taking a break, but you put it off until you complete your tasks for the day.

Many times messages come to you about something fun or interesting, but you discount it as something inappropriate for one reason or another.

Your inner guidance has no limiting beliefs or ideas about what is wrong or right. Right and wrong judgments come from your perceptions. There is only what feels good and what feels bad. When you are tuned into your inner guidance, you'll always do what feels best and right for you. You will only attract wonderful things from living in this way.

Make it a practice to listen to the messages your guidance is giving you. Do your best to shoo away the justifications about why you can't follow the guidance. You will be rewarded with a life that flows from one great experience to the next.

Re: Those Annoying Telemarketers Re: Those Annoying Telemarketers - When I was making phone calls I received 2 different messages that really stood out... Message 1: "We can't come to the phone right now. If you're a telemarketer please remove this number from your records. All other calls...." I never bothered to hear the rest because I wasn't allowed leaving messages anyway. I had to actually talk to the person. Message 2: "This phone number is protected by Embarq Privacy Services (something like that). Please leave your name, phone number and reason for call, and the party you're trying to reach will determine if the call is important to them." I summarized, but you get the point. Embarq is a local phone company. I don't know if it's available nationwide or not. That's a new one on me, though. I utilize caller ID on my cell. Unless it's a local number, I don't bother to answer. If it's important enough they'll leave a message. I use my cell for online and offline business since it has these capabilities as well as voicemail. Gotta love technology.

Re: Two hats - startup sales mentor and Message Slinger Re: Two hats - startup sales mentor and Message Slinger - 1st of all, thank you for the links, I will review them all and get a pic up ASAP. 2nd, to answer your question, I have always seen working for others as a means to an end result of running my own ventures. With my consultancy at full swing, and Message Slinger in beta, I am realizing the first part of these dreams. There is more to follow, and as it comes, sharing will be a joy.
Re: Watch What you Read Re: Watch What you Read - I agree. i believe more video's should be like Jeffery Gitomers video's under his Sales rant. They are typically not more than 3 minutes. His model seems to be; 1. Main Message (or Point) 2. Example 3. Next steps to put it into Action take away the extra "blabber" and you've got viewers that will come back.
Re: High price of entertainment Re: High price of entertainment - [quote="TheAnonymousMan":dadh8m1p]Kevin, I went to a Justin Timberlake concert recently where the bottled water was selling for $4 a bottle! I'm talking about the average 600ml bottle that sells for about $1.20 in the supermarket, now that's a rip off but people were buying it because they needed water.[/quote:dadh8m1p] Hi TheAnonymousMan, Can I ask how much you paid for the concert tickets? And more importantly, was the show worth the price? At the Tennis US Open, I had to pay $3.25 for a 500ml bottled water, $8.00 for a "travel size" Hawaiian Tropic bottle of sunscreen, and $13.00 for a Carnegie Deli pastrami sandwich, $4.25 for fries and $2.77 for a Sharpie pen (for autographs), etc... And to make things worse, they don't allow you to carry a backpack for security reasons, so it's very inconvenient to bring your own things to the event (keep in mind I was at the US Open for 7 hours). I mean who wants to carry around 10 lbs worth of stuff (if I were to bring my own necessities like food/water/sunscreen/etc. and have to carry a bunch of souvenirs) in a plastic transparent bag for the whole day?! It's an obvious scam for more profit.
