Are you really good at handling cr@p?

Guest post by: Jeanna Gabellini

Article Overview: Bad stuff happens to good and even somewhat enlightened people. But when you get really good at handling cruddy stuff often enough, you become comfortable with it. You might think that you’re living better now that you’re able to tolerate bad stuff without flying off the handle, but is that really a good thing?

Are you really good at handling cr@p?

Do you pride yourself on being able to put out fires in your business faster than the best firefighters? Are you able to dodge bullets in a single leap? Is it your job to turn every no into a yes? Are you masterful at living on a shoe-string budget?

If you answer yes to any of the above, or even wished you could handle these issues like a pro, you’re probably used to tolerating less than ideal situations and circumstance.

Yes, bad stuff happens to good and even somewhat enlightened people. But when you get really good at handling cruddy stuff often enough, you become comfortable with it. You might think that you’re living better now that you’re able to tolerate bad stuff without flying off the handle, but is that really a good thing?

In the beginning it is a good thing.

Let’s say you’ve been financially struggling for years. Every day you’re reminded of all that you can’t afford. You long for a vacation with your loved ones on a lush island or have been dying to go on a safari but know that it won’t happen for years…if ever. It feels like a huge success if you get all of your bills paid on time each month.

Maybe it’s worse than that. You’ve got debt collectors calling and maxed out credit cards and you fret you’re about to lose it all.

Would it be a good thing to stop stressing out every day about how broke you are and focus on shifting your mindset to a more calm relationship with what is? Heck, YES! There is no way you create financial abundance when you’re constantly wigging out about it.

But once you get calm, you must take further steps and actions to actually increase the amount of money coming in and decrease the money going out. When you’ve lessened the negative emotional charge, now you can actively begin the nitty-gritty work of rewiring your relationship with money.

Like I’ve said over and over before, this stuff takes practice. As each money trigger pops up in your daily life, you have to deal with it in the moment and be more deliberate about how you want to react. Next comes the hard core focus on expecting the increase of money in your account without the attachment to how or when it will come.

The key here is not to get used to crappy stuff all the time. When your past and present is full of conflict, it becomes easier to tolerate it and not take the time or energy to break the pattern. You say you want something different yet it may not be painful enough to do something about it. You may have even become numb to the pain.

A little pain is good. Notice the discomfort and vow to be a different way. Take an action immediately that gets you a little closer to the way of life you really desire.

This the same process you’d use if you felt like you were in a constant state of overwhelm at work or if you always felt fuzzy about which action steps to take next.

Make friends with your nasty inner voices so they’ll get off your back, then take the next steps to kick them to the curb and replace with your power house inner business expert.

Here is the flow:

Never, ever, ever settle for crappy situations, things, people or feelings.

Change YOUR thoughts and beliefs and the rest will take care of themselves.

Virtual Book Tours Virtual Book Tours - Are the members of the forum familiar with how a virtual book tour works? I've been considering doing a tour or two and I was talking to a friend about handling some promotion for her and handling tours in the future. So, are there any authors here who have tried a virtual book tour? Or, are there any blog owners that would consider hostiing an author who is on tour? Shri
Best Approach Best Approach - If this was my project, I would hire an editor/coordinator and then work with them to hire the number of writers you need. The editor should be organized, able to effectively delegate and oversee and they should be a qualified and experienced writer. The editor could maintain the consistency that you want. One problem with an agency is that they often have different people work on your project and the person or people handling your account could leave. I think working one on one with the specific person handling your work would be more effective for you. Shri
Everyone has different skillsets Everyone has different skillsets - Hi Kevin It totally depends on the persons confidence with handling the technical side of the business such as web hosting. For example I tend to make a profit of $50 - $100 a year for handling one of my clients (business management industry) web hosting requirements. However if I didn't help him out he would most certainly spend more than $50 - $100 of his time during the year trying to figure out FTP settings, name servers, configuration options etc so it's more economical for him to pay a little extra and not have to worry about it. It's also something that differs from person to person and the industry they are working in. If the person is computer literate and are confident in learning new technical skills on the computer I would be confident they could handle their own web hosting etc and I know of entrepreneurs who do this. For me, I would say I am the same when it comes to servicing my vehicle. If I had to do it myself I could save a little extra money but it's not worth the risk that I could do something wrong and have to spend more time fixing the problem I created. I'd rather just pay someone a little extra to do the job efficiently and correctly.
Re: need pricing help please Re: need pricing help please - I agree that allowing customers to choose digital or physical product delivery is a good idea. If you are handling large volumes of orders then outsourcing the process is an excellent idea. Handling physical orders yourself is a demanding occupation, as I know from experience, but on the other hand, if you are doing it on a small scale it also gives you some good opportunities to personalize your service with hand written compliment notes and so forth. Also, you can learn a lot from your customers if you deal with them through every part of the sales process. Once sales volume picks up, outsource the operation - you'll probably save money as well as time. DH
Re: Patent Walk-Through Re: Patent Walk-Through - great, thanks for the info. It looks really hard to me handle this process especially if I’d like to compare prices and of course service quality. I’ll check if there is not a company handling this for me, I guess they have experience and especially time to make it. Will
