Intuition, Impulse, Magic
Earlier today I was lying on back at my chiropractor's office. I had my eyes closed while he was doing some muscle testing and adjustments. A thought entered my mind, "I wonder if my zipper is down on my shorts." About 3 seconds later he says, "Did you know your zipper is down?"
Whoa! What a trip. My intuition had given me the information, but I didn't do anything about it. Now you have to know, I was busting up laughing that I had such a strong intuitive hit about this zipper. I was a bit embarrassed and excited at the same time. The excitement came from the decision I had made earlier in the day to pay attention to all thoughts, impulses, and "hits" I had and to also notice what other information I was being guided to. It was so great that I got such fast feedback on listening vs. blowing off my thoughts.
Now it's your turn. Would you be willing to listen and follow all of your wild hair ideas, intuitive impulses, and hints that the environment around you gives you for a whole week? You'd have to make it a game and give an extreme focus to this practice.
"What would be the benefit," you ask. You would change the way you go about getting what you want in every area of your life, and it would be so much fun that you would be grinning from ear to ear. I am not kidding.
I know some of you may need a little more explanation to truly understand the power of following your gut. This process is also known as listening to inner guidance, being in the flow, taking inspired actions, being present, trusting, and being connected.
You are constantly being fed clues by the Universe as to "how" to get what you want. Sometimes, you won't understand why certain things happen in the moment, but later the puzzle comes together. For instance, I had a client who had set an intention about wanting to see some deer on her drive home. She missed her exit and got off the freeway at the next exit. Guess what she saw on her detour? A big group of deer.
Following these impulses and inspired actions is a very brave and bold way of living. It truly requires trust. It also means letting go of failure, rejection, and judgment. It also involves an element of adventure. You truly won't know the outcome, only that it will lead to somewhere great or the next clue.
Some of you may want me to get more practical. Let's say you are selling something in your business. I personally offer telelcasses, products, e-courses, and coaching. Over the years I have had lots of impulses that I, thankfully, followed. Some of them I was scared to take action on and most I tried to blow off. But even with all the internal dialogue in my head, I forced myself to simply just go for it.
One of my favorite stories about this is the time I met Jack Canfield. He is the co-author of the best-selling book series of all time, Chicken Soup For The Soul. I had an impulse to ask him to be on my radio show while I was listening to him speak at a conference. My little Gremlin told me to blow it off. "He's too busy," I thought. Then I remembered his advice in The Aladdin Factor -- "If you don't ask, the answer is always no." Alright, fine!
I asked. He said, "Yes." He's been on our show twice and now, Eva and I are co-authoring, Chicken Soup For The Prosperous Soul. He is a very dear person in our lives.
All of this because I followed an impulse!
Whenever you get a hit to call someone, go to a certain store or website, tell somebody about a project you are working on ... JUST DO IT! You have no idea of what it will lead to. Abundance and prosperity are guaranteed.
A common question I get asked is, "How do I know if it's intuition or my Gremlin?" Your intuition is always a neutral tone and a clear action or idea. It will feel exciting or peaceful. Your Gremlin has an anxious, mean, or stern tone. It usually will offer a string of worrisome or negative thoughts. If you listen to the Gremlin, you will not take action and miss out on a lot of extreme fun and abundance.
