Work Less, Earn More
Summer is here and we all want to enjoy the long hot days doing what we love. For those with many interests enjoyment may come from a variety of activities that usually require time and money. So how do you work less and earn more if you are paid for the time you put in? The only way is to be a business owner or sales professional. Sales people are like business owners, especially those risk takers who work strictly on commissions.
Business owners go into business for many reasons but in the end we all want to earn enough to have the freedom to do what we want, when we want.
Starting a business from scratch in most cases requires a great deal of time and effort. The payoff we envision for the effort is freedom and financial success. As we grow the business new problems and challenges arise. We may go from a solo operator to a large organization. Today I met a business owner who started out 20 years ago with 3 partners and 1 employee and now is the sole owner with 125 employees. His problems and challenges are not the same but there are still important problems to deal with daily.
Having both time and money from your business to do what you want means getting results through managing the work of others. This requires great skill and effort. When done right, success can be achieved much faster. Done poorly, frustration and stress could be the unfortunate payback.
What then is the recipe for successfully growing a business through the efforts of others? Yes there is a recipe for success just as there is one for cooking a great meal. But it's not just enough to follow the steps in a recipe to produce a great tasting dish. You need to have passion and skill, which become your own added ingredients. You need to be passionate about your business, products and services because that's what adds the flavour to attract a loyal customer base. And you need the skills to execute your strategies and deliver what your customers want and expect. These elements also need to be evident and manifested by your employees and as the business leader your main responsibility is to illicit this from your team if you want to earn your freedom from the day to day operations.
From now on I will write these articles directed at business owners and executives who are interested in learning the recipe and applying it in their business. For those wanting to go in depth into these ideas, I will also provide a learning platform to help you apply it and get significant results. Along with my partner Fritz Glaus I am setting up a coaching club membership website to provide you with all the tools, resources and coaching you will need to create your success recipe to work less and earn more. Some of you may fear working less because you may associate a great deal or all of your self-worth to your business. If you do have this fear you need to address it and develop other interests because you may never allow yourself to work less or even consider retirement.
For now, here are the key elements of the recipe for building business results through people and developing an autonomous workforce.
Skilled leadership & coaching + high performance teamwork + job-person matching = OUTSTANDING RESULTS
Organization Leanness, Team Autonomy, Spirit of Individual and Collective Initiative and of Continuous Improvement
Stay tuned for more information on how to make this recipe work in your organization. We will provide all the steps and tools you need to build the organization of your dream and create the lifestyle and freedom you deserve.
