More diligence!

Diligence is to life as focus is to a laser. If a laser loses it's focus it may still be of value but not it's intended value. In fact due to the loss of focus the laser becomes a flashlight. A laser is a specialized instrument and a flashlight is a convenient item. A flashlight illuminates but a laser has tremendous special power. The world needs both of these items, but even a great flashlight is worth merely a few dollars, while, depending on the use of the laser, it may bring millions of dollars.

Diligence is our focus. It is the energy necessary to create our individuality, instead of a meager average or normal existence. Diligence, although not the only vital ingredient to a formula for success, is an essential component. Diligence is not for the faint of heart. It is a combination of consistency, integrity and hard work. Diligence is always a characteristic of greatness as we are not created greater than one another we create it through our oneness with God and a good work ethic.

If you have plans of greatness don't leave out diligence as you are doomed for failure without it. It may create hardship between you and your competitors but it will be cause for admiration from the people that you will need to help you in your overall mission. If one is to achieve greatness one must aspire to it to begin with. And as always if all else fails remember...

Your Life is PERFECT!

re: franchising mistakes re: franchising mistakes - Great list Michele. I would expand on the first point re: due diligence, to call and speak with a number of existing franchisees. In my experience, I am amazed at *some* folks lack of due diligence... It's as if they are set on the concept, and have no desire to hear other opinions. While you may get a list of references from the Franchisor, it wouldn't hurt to call a few franchisees that are not on their approved list. You may be surprised at what you learn. I can think of a handful of franchise offerings (very recognizable brands) that, upon deeper research, would reveal a darker side that would send me - and any other sane entrepreneur - running in the opposite direction. Yet there are people still buying into the franchise concept with a glazed look in their eyes.
Re: Cuppy's Coffee - Rogue Franchisor Goes Bust Re: Cuppy's Coffee - Rogue Franchisor Goes Bust - Hi GT - Due diligence is so important... It's usually the newbies that get burned in these situations. Too much passion, not enough research.
Re: Using PR in the Franchise Business Re: Using PR in the Franchise Business - Outsourcing in any business can be a good thing, provided you can afford it and do your due diligence on the company that you outsource to. It is very easy to be taken for a ride if you don't know what you are doing. MichelleJ
Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business Re: Does Anyone have any New Ideas for a Business - I agree with you on that point Kevin. One needs to think something through first and do the necessary due diligence on it before running out and persisting on something that is a total waste of time. But once you have ascertained that it can work then go for it. MichelleJ
Due Dilligence Due Dilligence - Hi Praveenv, I'm big on due diligence when exploring any type of business opportunity. One of the first things I would want to know is who else is is selling this distributor's products in their country? Would you be the first? I would ask for contact information for others who are selling his products in other countries, then contacting those parties and asking for input such as: 1. Do they pay in advance for the product, then sell it from their end? 2. Who takes care of customer service, returns? 3. Is risk equally assumed or does one party carry all of the risk? 4. Who makes up the target market for this product? 5. How are they best reaching members of that market? 6. Who are their biggest competitors and how do they differentiate their product from others? There are a host of questions to ask before proceeding with operational details. If I was satisfied with the information gathered, I would then seek out someone who is already doing what I plan to do. Someone else who is selling an overseas product using the internet -- and ask him/her for advice. Of course, legal guidance, etc. are a given. I'd make sure there are no assumptions and I have full understanding on what is involved before proceeding. (I've posted this reply in the first person because I simply want to give you a few things to think about -- not to tell you what to do. I can only recommend you do your due diligence and proceed with full knowledge of what is involved.) Good luck to you!
