Resolutions
Resolutions
Did you make a New Year’s resolution? My guess is, “you think you did.” What most of us probably made was a hope for the New Year and not an actual resolution. Every year millions of people believe they are making New Year’s resolutions, while in truth they are merely filling themselves with empty hope. If hope never resolves itself into reality, it dwindles and dies, settling into hopelessness and hopelessness is the foundation of depression.
A resolution is a firm decision to do something. A firm decision is what differentiates a goal
from a meager dream. Dreams are founded on hope and goals are founded on dreams in progressive stages. Goals are different from dreams in that they are much more detailed and explicit, supported by plans and action. Plans and action are necessary in order to follow the goal to fruition, or what Metaphysicians call manifestation.
The entire history of the universe is a series of cause and effects. With this in mind it would
seem sensible that for us to achieve expected effects we must first institute specific cause. Most people accept their life as it is created by surrounding themselves with people desiring similar goals. In this way they can ride on the coattails of the effects or manifestations of others. The problem is that they never find themselves fulfilled as they never achieve their dreams. We can only achieve our dream, or heart’s desire, by conducting the entire orchestration of our lives.
The first step in turning a dream into a goal is through the medium of pencil and paper or a computer. Through the use of active meditation, we concentrate on our thoughts, envisioning our dreams, defining them into goals. By physically recording our dreams on paper, we build an architectural design or goals. We must be extremely detailed in our design as the effect perfectly mirrors the cause.
Once a detailed map is drawn, our super conscious mind, or spiritual self, can withdraw inspiration necessary in achieving our plan’s acquisition. The more detailed the map, the more exacting will be the plans or “travel arrangements” necessary in reaching our goal. Once our subconscious mind has specific plans to focus on, it begins searching for sufficient passion to drive our actions. Once we have sanctioned our soul to draw on its intuitive source, we are empowered by our passion to the level necessary in achieving our goal. A great plan creates great passion. Great passion creates great manifestation. Great manifestation creates great confidence. Great confidence, tempered with humility, creates greatness.
If we set New Year’s resolutions, we must stay resolute. Resolution requires determination and if we don’t design explicit goals, led by long and short term plans to keep us focused and on track, we slowly lose patience and concurrently lose resolve. New Year’s resolutions don’t fail us, we fail them. We must constantly realize that the tail never wags the dog. It is also good to remember…
