Responsibility
Responsibility
Responsibility Yields Success!
When we entertain victim consciousness, we build a wall around ourselves. This wall, although offering an illusional sense of comfort by keeping others out, also keeps us in. When we become responsible, we tear down the walls and are free to roam the planet in attempts of achieving our dream.
In my communication seminars I talk about the need to take 200% responsibility; 100% of the transmitter's responsibility and 100% of the receiver's responsibility. Great communicators take both the responsibility of the transmitter understanding the receiver and the receiver understanding the transmitter. By accepting this standard of accountability we are insured a formidable level of understanding. Since our life is molded on our understanding, the level of responsibility we are willing to accept is the primary initiator of our success.
Responsibility seems to be lacking over the entire planet. We are constantly in dispute somewhere in the world. No one is willing to take responsibility for their own prejudice, fault, aggression, passivity or any of thousands of excuses we give in attempts to side step our responsibilities. I am as guilty of side stepping my responsibilities as anyone. We must try to stay extremely aware of our habits of blame and guilt, which are the indicators of our lack of claiming responsibility.
When I find that I feel guilty due to actions I have taken to create discord, I immediately offer my sincere apologies and begin looking for avenues of culmination through communication. When I catch myself blaming, I stop and ask myself how my actions might have attributed to the dispute with which I am pointing blame. When I have accepted my part in the conflict, I immediately begin to seek resolve through communication.
Some areas I try to stay aware of in the pursuit of being responsible are my career, success, education, happiness, prosperity, physical well being, psychological well being, spiritual well being, friendships and basically any relationship I have with the entire universe.
One must be careful not to become over responsible. I am only resposible for my own actions and do not take responsibility for the actions of others. By accepting responsibility of the actions of others I rob them of the growth that comes from being responsible.
Have a great life, get responsible, create your own power to succeed and as always...
