Why Network Marketers Desperately Need to Niche Market

If ever there was a group that desperately needs to niche market, it's network marketers. According to the Direct Selling Association, there are 16.1 million people in North America, 70 million worldwide, involved in the direct selling industry, and 97% of them never get to break even. 97 of every 100 network marketers fail in the traditional system, and 80% quit in the first 90 days.

Most of the people recruited into the 1,500 network marketing companies in North America are taught the philosophy that “the product/service is for everyone; it's just a numbers game, and if you throw enough mud again the wall, some of it is bound to stick.”

In my opinion, there's a much easier, more predictable and successful way to do business. Adopting a niche marketing strategy takes away the “numbers game” approach, and gives you a more solid foundation to build your business.

Clay Stevens, founder of RI Training, calls it “hype and hopium.” In his book, “Six Figures in Six Months,” he outlines a step-by-step recipe for creating lasting success for anyone involved in direct selling.

The RI Training approach lays the foundation to niche marketing. In its 3-step success pattern, it offers fifty essential skills to improving yourself, building a team, and becoming a leader. According to Stevens, increased effectiveness, measured in PEPs (Personal Effectiveness Profile), will drastically improve retention and increase profitability.

Personal effectiveness coupled with the GEL Formula outlined in my book “Riches in Niches: How to Make it BIG in a small Market,” gives network marketers an explosive strategy to target a specific niche market, to better ensure their results skyrocket.

As a quick reminder of the GEL Formula:

G = Growing - As you search for the niche market that best fits you and your business, growth potential is a key factor.

E = Expertise - Having expertise in an area helps to speed up the entry into a new niche market.

L = Love - Whatever niche market you decide to target, you must enjoy, love, like, be passionate about it.

10 best franchises to get involved 10 best franchises to get involved - My advice is: 1) Go to the library and start reading business books (accounting, finance, etc.) 2) Go to your local community college and enroll in night classes 3) Join the local Chamber of Commerce 4) Network / Network / Network -- through the above sources. Once you have spent two years doing the above, then look for a 55 - 60 year old business person that is looking to reduce their time in the business. Then you can work on a sweetheart financing option.

I haven't had a chance to read all the replies and i have to jet from the office... I suggest marketing where ever your Target Market congregates. If it's a forum of concerned parents - go there. Strike up a deal with the forum owner (JV) and have him promote it to the list of members (Integration Marketing). If you want to go with Forums then i would partner with a parent who is a frequent poster/moderator on a particular Target Market Forum and have him/her add your link to their signature. That was just a thought but it's not as intense once you get buy in from the Forum owner or high ranked poster/moderator. Hope that sparks some new ideas.
